About this file
This amendment modifies a solicitation for the OR DOT 20(3)/US 20 Upper Sunken Grade Slide Repair project. The solicitation is seeking bids for repair work including permanent ground anchors, soldier pile retaining walls, drilled shafts, structural concrete, and other earthwork and construction required to repair a landslide area on US Highway 20 in Oregon. The amendment revises test load sequences and bond length estimates for ground anchors, adds a section specifying requirements for soldier pile retaining walls, and updates related drawings and tables. The solicitation is seeking bids due by May 7, 2021 and is issued by the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration with the Oregon Department of Transportation listed as the administering agency.

Construction Requirements
263.03 Qualifications. Submit the following for acceptance at least 30 days before drilling for soldier piles. Acceptance of the Contractor’s personnel and installation plan does not relieve the Contractor of the responsibility for obtaining the required results in the completed work.
(a) Professional engineer. Provide an on-site professional geotechnical engineer, professional engineering geologist, or professional geologist with at least 3 years of experience in the design and construction of soldier pile walls or drilled shafts to log subsurface profiles.
(b) Other personnel. A résumé for each individual describing their experience on at least 5 soldier piles retaining wall projects of similar scope and complexity over the past 5 years.
Include project names, locations, and contract information for project owners.
263.04 General. Check existing site conditions for conformance with the plans. Provide logs of material condition descriptions from roadway surface to bottom of drilled shafts.
Verify limits of wall installation. Backfill according to Section 208.
If proposing an alternate construction method, submit to the CO for approval 14 days prior to beginning of construction according to Subsection 104.03. See Section 257 for Contractor-designed retaining walls.
