Minneapolis and St.Paul Interior and Exterior Landscaping Q&A

Q.1. Would the awarded contractor be required to supply the mats needed to cover the turf mounds? Or would we use the current mats that have been used in previous years? Would you be able to provide additional information on what type of material the mats would need to be or what has been used in the past?

A.1. On the RFP - Exhibit 2, Number 13: WINTERIZING MATS FOR MOUND PROTECTION Winterizing ground cover mats are to be removed from the mounds at the start of the spring season. Mats are to be rolled up and stored off site through the spring/summer/fall. Contractor is responsible for all removal, moving, storing, protection and installation. The contractor shall be responsible for replacing mat material, with equal product, for sections of mat material that is deteriorated beyond re-use or damaged. Mat material shall be re-installed on the mounds by means and methods currently employed.

The contractor would provide and store off-site; the mats used were a plastic netting with straw/wood mulch material, installed with a 3-4” staple/stake.

Q.2. If we were awarded the contract for 2019, would we need to remove the mats in the spring of 2019? And would the current contractor then pick them up from the awarded contractor? assuming the timeline for the mat removal would be late February or March. What is the timeline for the turf mounds to be covered?
