GSA- USDA Hearing & Jury Rooms- Athens GA
Pre-bid Questions:
1- SOW Item 8.9.3 “The existing surface mounted receptacles located in the Hearing room shall be recessed to be flush with the wall surface” Please indicate location of surface mounted receptacles in the Hearing room
Response: The existing receptacles have wiremold extension box rings. Remove the extension and flush mount the receptacle and plate to the wall.
2- SOW Item 8.10 The Contractor shall install a new suspended acoustic ceiling in the Hearing room and the two Support offices. The replacement ceiling height shall match the existing ceiling height to align with the existing fire suppression sprinkler heads. Sprinkler heads are wall mounted. Please clarify
Response: Correct the sprinklers heads in the Hearing and Support rooms are wall mounted. Install the replacement ceiling to match the existing ceiling height.
3- SOW Item 8.10.1 A portion of the Hearing room ceiling shall be lowered to a height of 8’-0” just below HVAC duct lines. Please indicate location of HVAC duct lines.
Response: There is a suspended 30 x 14 metal duct running down the center of room 206, flex duct is used to connect the air diffusers.
4- SOW Item 8.10.1 The Contractor shall use drywall/metal framing to construct a header for the ceiling grid junction at the dropdown ceiling interface and to cover the existing sprinkler line. Also, the Contractor shall use drywall/metal framing to conceal the sprinkler line in Rooms 205-C and 206. Please indicate location of HVAC duct lines. Sprinkler lines have vertical connecting lines, do we need to rework these lines?
Response: Yes, the vertical sprinkler drops located in room 205B and 205C will need to be modified so that the wall mounted sprinkler heads are 2” below the new ceiling in room 206.
5- SOW Item 8.13 The Contractor shall install courtroom paneling on the wall behind the Judges Bench. See included detail sheet. The Contractor shall submit shop drawings for review and approval by the USDC and GSA PM before fabrication of the panels. The stained finish shall match the existing woodwork finish in the Court hallway.

6- SOW Item 8.13.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for hanging the Court emblem, government furnished material (GFM), on to the wall panel. There is a door in the back wall that will prohibit the location of the seal in the center of the wall. Would it be acceptable to offset the seal location?
Response: Yes, the emblem will need to offset because of the door.
7- SOW Item 8.18 The Contractor shall modify the existing fire sprinkler heads to accommodate the acoustic ceilings as needed. Sprinkler heads are on the walls.
Do you want to move the heads to the ceiling?
Response: This is a typo the statement should be modified to read “The Contractor shall modify the existing wall mounted sprinkler heads to accommodate the new drop down header and furred walls.”
8- SOW Item 8.21 The Contractor shall apply primer and two (2) coats of a high quality nationally marketed commercial latex paint of paint for a smooth finish to the walls. Also, the Contractor shall prep, re-glaze and paint….. Windows do not have glazing in the inside. Please clarify.
Response: Please disregard “re-glaze” the windows, the Contractor shall prep and paint the wooden windows and trim.
9- No power or data outlets are required in the Judges Bench and Clerk Bench millwork. Only floor boxes are required. Please confirm
Response: Power and data outlets are floor mounted beneath the benches. Please provide 2” cut out(s) with trim ring in the bench top, for cabling to pass through, centrally located at each floor box location per the Proposed Plan .
10-A section of the corridor between the Hearing room and the data closet has plaster ceilings. Are surface mounted data cables allowed?
Response: All data cabling shall be routed above the ceilings. Surface mounted cabling will not be allowed.
