Dr. Harry Parker, Ph.D.
Supervisory Contracting Officer Can an existing contour maps of the area be provided? Please see attached 2 drawings from back in 2002.
Is existing survey information of the area available and can it be provided? No existing survey information provided.
Will coordination with the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer district known as (MSD) be a part required in this project? If so to what extent? No MSD coordination required.
Should there be extra clay material will it be deposited at the maintenance yard for future use or hauled off site? Hauled off site.
How deep are the two manholes? It will be the contractor’s responsibility to determine the depth of the manholes.
Are you sure a 48” diameter pre-cast manhole is large enough to have 2-24” holes and a 12” hole at the manhole where the 12” ties into this line? It will be the contractor’s responsibility to determine the elevation location of the pipe inverts to allow them to fit into the manhole.
Can we use a nearby water spigot to water the grass for the 30-day maintenance period? If not, do we have to haul the water from off the property? Is there a charge for the water? Yes, contractors can use the water and there is no charge.
Is it allowable to place sod instead of hauling in topsoil, seed, fertilizer, and straw matting? Yes, sod can be used, it will need to be watered.
As part of the scope of work the contractor is to fill in the Large Sinkhole located on the slope:
Does Jefferson Barracks have any dirt we can access? If so, is there a charge for dirt? Will this dirt have to be Benched into slope to prevent future slides? Yes, the cemetery does have dirt to use/access at no charge. Contractor to determine the means and methods for the dirt.
If benching is required, there is a very good chance a good portion of hillside will need to be redone in order to stabilize slope. How will this be paid for? Incidental to the project, it is the contractor’s responsibility to determine the means and methods.
Typically a Storm Sewer project has Plan & Profile sheet that gives Elevations, Percentage Slope of Pipe, MH inverts top and bottom etc. Can the Dept. provide these sheets? It is the contractor’s responsibility to set the grades based on the conditions of the site.
If not what is the % slope on pipe needed to insure the pipe is buried deep enough or that the pipe is not coming out of ground? It is the contractor’s responsibility to ensure the pipe is buried deep enough and is not coming out of the ground.
What is flowline elevation of the manholes, especially the downstream Manhole? It is the contractor’s responsibility to determine the flow line. Per the SOW “The invert elevation of the new 24-inch PVC storm at the new manhole, shall be the same elevation or lower than the 12-inch ADS storm pipe.”
If we are not given MH elevations, how much of the manhole do you want sticking out of the ground? Manhole rim shall be flush with the existing ground.
The existing Rip Rap located at the very end of the existing pipe run. Can this Rip rap be buried onsite or placed into the side slope of the existing ditch? Existing Rip-Rap can be placed into the side slope of the existing ditch.
Are there any existing utilities other than the what appears to be an existing sprinkler pipe located running through large sinkhole? No
