The contractor must schedule work to be completed within a 48-hour window to minimize water pressure disruptions. Project: 660-23-330 Replace Booster Pumps Salt Lake City VAMC RFI’s

Solicitation: 36C25923R0081

1. Is the schedule of the pipe 40 or 10 or 40S? The drawings show 40, but the spec’s show 10 for fittings:

A: Schedule 40 pipe.

2. The spec’s call out SS 312 for pipe and ss 316 for fittings. Is this intentional? Are they both 316?

A: Both SS 316.

3. Do the six 6” truly need to be replaced? This will require an outage or outages.

A: Yes. The VA Facility Plumber(s) will isolate the existing water valves before and after the booster pump vault and bypass the booster pumps so that the campus still receives water from the city. Yes, there will be a temporary outage of the booster pumps.

4. Are block valves available above stream and downstream of the system?

A: Isolation valves are available above stream and downstream of the booster pump vault.

5. Where are the located (reference to question 4)?

A: They are located within the vicinity of the booster pumps vault. The contractor should coordinate the isolation of the booster pumps with the COR. The COR will then contact the VA Facility Plumbers to operate existing valves and isolate.

6. Where can water be disposed when the system is drained for outages?

A: There is a sump pump in the bottom corner of the booster pump vault.

7. Can the existing pump and pipe supports be re-used? Any modifications required?

A: The existing motor supports should be re-used. The contractor should procure a motor/pump setup that fits the existing supports and bolt pattern. If the contractor cannot find a matching motor/frame size & bolt pattern, then the contractor would need to modify the existing supports.
