RFI Responses
1. Is this project Tax Exempt? – There is no Tax Exemption documentation on file for this project.
2. There are no sizes shown for any of the fire dampers. Please clarify sizes to give contractors - The prospective contractors shall bid the replacement of all dampers as 20” X 20”. Any discrepancies will be resolved via change order.
3. There are no sizes shown on the duct that is being replaced. Can the VA clarify this? HVAC contractors are saying they have no idea how they are supposed to bid on something when they don’t have any sizes – Delete the removal and replacement of all ductwork.
4. Can ceiling types be called out on the drawings where these dampers are being corrected? – Most of the dampers can be found within mechanical/electrical rooms that have no ceilings. Dampers that are located within acoustical tile ceilings can be easily accessed. Those dampers that are located within hard ceilings will need to be accessed via an access panel. These locations are identified and addressed by Notes 2, 4, and 5 on each of the drawings. See the damper schedule on each drawing for Notes 2, 4, and 5.
5. Is the bid date of 9/20 correct? Want to verify bid date as the site visit is 9/17 this seems like a short window for bidders to put their quotes together after visiting site/asking any questions – RFIs will be due by 2:00pm 19 September. Bid due date has been revised to Tuesday, 24 September at 2:00pm EST.
6. When is the RFI due date? – We recommend that all contract questions be submitted NLT 9-19-19.
7. Note: Contractor shall be responsible for moving all loose furniture that may be in the way of accessing all dampers.
8. Note: All TAB (testing and balancing) work has been deleted.
