QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS (RFIs)

TO INVITATION FOR BID (IFB) NUMBER

36C25018B0425

IFB AMENDMENT NUMBER A00001

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Question: Cannot find what type of paint to use to repaint EIFS (Dwg. A201 Note #4)?

Answer: Paint to be exterior latex, color to match existing.

**See attached revised drawing, clouded verbiage

2. Question: Dwg. A201 Note #7 refers to “Clean existing patina from all copper components to restore original finish” but discussion at the walk-through indicated only repair of downspouts. Please clarify intent / scope?

Answer: Bid the work as the note describes.

3. Question: Dwg. A101 Note #2 There is not a square footage or number of location of repairs needed for the spalling concrete. Please clarify a square footage and locations for bidding?

Answer: The spalling concrete refers only to the South patio which is 615sf.

**See attached revised drawing, clouded revision

4. Question: Dwg. A201 Note #2 – New louvers and drain kit. What are the louvers used for? Is drain kit to be part of the interior air unit or masonry wall?

Answer: Louvers are for the existing PTAC units to remain on the first floor. The intent is to replace all louvers (most are dented and damaged) with a new single, self-draining louver with the ability to drain condensate from the PTAC unit - similar or equal to Construction Specialties, Inc. Model A4097 extruded aluminum single drainable louver. Assume a 4” louver, but will need to be field verified by the contractor. Since the louver is self-drainable, we can eliminate the 6” pipe extension from the note. For each louver, contractor should still provide an external drain kit with plastic tubing as needed to get to the self-draining pan (existing louvers should have a kit already in place but may need replaced).

Complete revised note #2 should now read:

REMOVE EXISTING LOUVER BELOW FIRST FLOOR WINDOWS AND REPLACE WITH NEW LOUVER TO MATCH EXISTING SIZE AND FREE AREA. COORDINATE SCHEDULING WITH VA TO ALLOW ROOMS TO BE VACATED AS NEEDED FOR COMPLETION OF WORK. CONTRACTOR TO NOTE: NUMBER OF ROOMSVACATED FOR THIS PURPOSE MAY BE AS FEW AS ONE AT A TIME. PROVIDE EXTERNAL CONDENSATE DRAIN KIT (SIMILAR OR EQUAL TO FRIEDRICH PXDR10) WITH PLASTIC TUBING AS NEEDED. LOUVER TO BE DARK BRONZE FINISH.

**See attached revised drawing, clouded verbiage
