Key details include replacing standard ground panel boards with isolated power systems in 10 operating rooms to comply with VA criteria. The amendment responds to questions about construction phasing, access routes, demolition scope, existing equipment protection, and redundant power sources. 1. Solicitation document (III Electrical #4) says project work will be continuously 24-7/7-days a week.
a. Will there be a COR onsite also?
-COR will be on site during normal working hour and during critical work time. COR will be reachable on the phone after hours.
b. We recommend working five ten to twelve hour days instead.
-That’s OK as long as you guarantee the project will be completed on time.
c. With the labor market with what it is & with the request for the prime contractor to work (3) shifts 24hrs a day that would include (2) project managers, (3) project superintendents & 4 to 5 separate labor crews that also includes subcontractor crews working 24/7.
That’s OK as long as you guarantee the project will be completed on time.
d. Weekends off to rest crews except for possible critical shutdowns.
- That’s OK as long as you guarantee the project will be completed on time.
e. Work in active hallways will be at nights & weekends & during the days the hallways will be safed off enough for hospital worker traffic only during the day.
-Correct.
f. It will be much more feasible to do one suite at a time under these conditions.
-Reference to the Project Phases.
g. Weekends off to rest crews except for possible critical shutdowns.
-Same question as 1d.
2. Drawing AD101, Note #2, shows a construction ICRA entrance at the main entrance of the area just in front of the electric room.
a. If this is erected during the construction project, how will you access the elevators with the patients?
· ICRA Barriers are marked on the drawing for each project phase. The one mark at the entrance is for the Elect Room.
3. Sheet AD101, room marked “Support OR” shows a panel next to the door being demolish but on sheet E100 does not show any panels being removed in this room/area.
-Read Drawings Note 3. DEMOLISH EXISTING CONSTRUCTION AS NEEDED TO INSTALL NEW WORK INCLUDING WALL, FLOOR AND CEILING FINISHES. That is the Location of the New Panel and Drawings notes is instructing to demo the wall/prepare it for the new work.
4. Sheet E101, In reference to the new feeder conduits going to the new panels in the operating rooms that are being fed from the interstitial space.
a. What is the proposed route to transition through the hard ceilings to these new panels?
· Exactly what it states a proposed route to run the feeders to the interstitial space were the Transformer and panels are.
5. Sheet E400 (Note #3) and sheet E600 (Note #10) states “new” IPP panels (IPPORL1, IPPORL2, and IPPORL3) to feed “existing” Laser Outlets in the OR rooms?

c. Need to know if the walls need to be opened for new work install.
· Follow the instructions on the Narrative and drawings. New Location.
7. Sheet E400, Note #10 states existing Biomed equipment located in corner cannot be removed during project and contractor needs to protect it. This is the room that will have the most construction in it due to the M/C cable. Everything around it will be demolished, and new products installed. Need information of the following
· Need more information and pics on all equipment under this note.
· Need proof of life the equipment works before construction.
· If needed, Do we have any wiggle room for equipment to possibly move side-to side for construction?
· Are there any whips feeding this equipment?
a. If so, can the whips be unhooked during construction, if needed?
· The equipment received several Data Cables and for that reason should not be removed. Equipment needs to be covered and protected. The entire room (Walls and Ceiling) Does not need to be demolished, only to the extend to remove the existing MC cable and run the conduits. Pretty much there is no work to be done where the equipment is. All work will be field coordinated with the Project COR.
8. Sheet E600 shows that all equipment going to “SE-2MH”.
a. We thought this new system is a redundant system.
b. Is this correct?
c. If those there is no true redundancy.
· It is a redundant system feed from 2 different substations (SN2MHA and SN2MHB) and also both are back up by Generator via SE2MH. Read the drawing.
