About this file

This is a technical specifications document for Light Rail Bridge Maintenance - Concrete Deck Sealing Phase 2, issued by RTD (Regional Transportation District) in May 2025. The project involves concrete deck sealing work on five RTD Light Rail bridges on the West Corridor, including bridges over Colfax Avenue, Indiana Flyover at 6th Avenue Freeway, 6th Avenue bridge (Union bridge), Wadsworth Boulevard, and the Consolidated mainline (CML) bridge. The scope includes bridge deck sweeping, dustless abrasion blasting surface preparation, and silane sealer application on all accessible concrete surfaces inside fence curbs. Work is restricted to Sunday through Thursday nights between 1:30 AM and 5:30 AM (or 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM if power lines require de-energizing), with no Friday or Saturday night access permitted. Key personnel include Contracting Officer Amelia Thompson and Project Engineer Svetlana Grechka/Jeffrey Freeland.

The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, quality control, and insurance, obtain applicable state and city permits, and comply with CDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Payment structure includes separate line items for Bridge Deck Sweeping (measured per square yard), Bridge Deck Surface Preparation (measured per square foot), and Bridge Deck Silane Sealer application (measured per square foot). All workers must complete RTD's On Track Safety Training (OTST), and the contractor must obtain both RTD Light Rail Right-of-Way Access Permits and Building and Grounds Access Permits. The work requires maintaining passenger access during train operations, protecting existing infrastructure from abrasion blasting damage, and using acceptable silane sealer products such as Sikagard 706 Thixo or S-Tech Concreme with minimum 80% silane content and 10mm penetration depth.
