RFI’S

1. It is our understanding that the contractor will be responsible for the design of the new extensions. Are signed and sealed drawings from an engineer a requirement of the design or will sketches meeting manufacturer’s requirements be acceptable? Shop drawings that meet the specifications are acceptable.

2. During the pre-bid site walk, it was stated that the gate arm operators were inoperable and both units should be replaced. Please confirm how many new access cards will be required for the new system. 400

3. What is the allowable finished gap at the base of the swing gates? 6 inches

4. Are there any underground utilities located in the areas where bollards will be installed? The contractor will be responsible for verifying underground utilities.

5. During the site walk it was mentioned that for the razor wire installation along 30th st, razor wire should not be installed over the Con Edison generators and transformers. Please confirm that those sections are not in the scope. Confirmed- these areas do not require razor wire.

6. K4 rated bollards are available in both concrete and steel. Please confirm which is preferable to the government. Steel

7. Please confirm that the contractor is responsible for bollard layout with specified quantities at each outpost. Contractor will submit shop drawing of layout, showing number of barriers identified in the statement of work for each location.

8. Please confirm the contractor is responsible to provide shop drawings for all required items and equipment such as bollards, razor wire, fence extensions, etc. Yes, Shop are acceptable.

9. Please specify the new bollards finish is to be concrete to match the existing bollards at the 29th street entrance or to be stainless steel as mentioned during the walk-through Steel, not concrete.

10. Please confirm the scope of work at the staff parking lot (29th Street) card readers and electronic gate arms is to remove existing units in their entirety and replace, or if we are to repair the existing units. Replace the inoperable gates.

11. If scope of work includes complete replacement of electronic gate arms, please provide specification of new unit. Replace with units that meet or exceed the current units in place.

12. Please confirm that the card reader and automatic gate arm controls are local to the units and control wiring is not required at a security control panel inside the building. The units are locally controlled.

13. Please confirm if the staff parking lot (29th Street) gate extensions need to match the specification of the existing steel tube fence. Confirmed. Modifications should match existing.

RFI’S

14. At the 29th street staff parking lot gate, please confirm it is acceptable for the existing steel curbs and raised concrete to be cut back to allow for swing clearance once the gate is extended Confirmed. Shop drawings need to be submitted and accepted.

15. During the site walk, it was observed that the existing 30th street chain link fence section has existing 45-degree barbed wire mounting arms but no barbed wire installed. In typical applications, barbed wire would be installed with (3) horizontal strands and the razor wire would coil around it. Please specify if this is the intent of the project. Intent of the project is to install razor wire not barbed wire.

16. Please confirm the existing barbed wire arms to be re-used or removed and installed new Existing arms can be utilized.

17. Please confirm that razor wire in not required on 30th street fence at the section over the transformers Confirmed - these areas do not require razor wire.

18. Please confirm that razor wire is not required over gated sections of 30th street fence. Confirmed

- these areas do not require razor wire.
