FCI HERLONG– UPGRADE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
PROJECT 6C2U QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
SOLICITATION 15B61919B00000002
SUBMITTED BY PEC CONTRACTING & ENGINEERING:
1. Drawing 2 gives us a total for Fiber Cable with 20% of 43,218 feet. Is there an updated footage to include the extra comm rooms that are not getting fire alarm panels (MS, FR, SG)?
Change: See updated drawings for fiber totals. Building MS uses the Comm room from building FS, No fiber is run to MS or FR. See the updated drawings for building SG
2. It was indicated at the job walk that the total footage could be up to
48,000 feet. What should we use as a length to keep the bidding equal?
Change: See updated drawings for fiber totals. Building MS uses the Comm
3. Could we get a picture of the conduits inside the vaults (S-MHB and S-MH25) to verify the number of cables that will fit inside the conduits?
Clarification: See updated pictures
4. In replacing the Annunciators, enlarging the openings to fit the new ones will require sawcutting the wall. Can this be done during normal working hours?
Clarification: Yes, this can be done during normal working hours
SUBMITTED BY JNV GROUP:
5. On the Drawings provided in the solicitation the Sheet two, has total footage of 43,218 FT. Is there an updated footage to include the extra comm rooms that are not getting fire alarm panels (MS, FR, SG)? It was indicated during job walk that the total footage could be up to 48,000 FT of fiber.
Change: See updated drawings for fiber totals. Building MS uses the Comm
6. Could a picture of conduits inside the vault(s) S-MH8 and S-MH25 to help verify number of fiber cables will fit inside the conduits going into the head end?
7. Please confirm that the contractor is not required to provide any CAT Drawings after the install?
Clarification: Per the SOW, page 4, section F Contractor Responsibilities, item 9, CAD Drawings are required.
The “As-Built” Drawings will be what the contractor has put together to complete the project, these drawings should typically show how each new panel and associated devices are connected to existing infrastructure. These drawings should also show how the new fiber optic system is installed.
SUBMITTED BY SEABEE CONSTRUCTION:
8. During the site-visit, it was stated that a picture with measurements of the annunciators was provided with all the Solicitation/SOW information posted on FBO. I do not see any pictures of the annunciators on FBO, and we were not able to measure them during the site-visit due to not being allowed to bring tools for the site-visit. Please, can a picture (with measurements) of the annunciators be provided/posted to FBO?
9. On the Drawings Provided to Edge Communications Inc Sheet two, has total footage of 43,218 FT. Is there an updated footage to include the extra comm rooms that are not getting fire alarm panels (MS, FR, SG)? It was indicated to Edge during job walk that the total footage could be up to 48,000 FT of fiber.
Change: See updated drawings for fiber totals. Building MS uses the Comm
10. Could a picture of conduits inside the vault(s) S-MH8 and S-MH25 to help verify number of fiber cables will fit inside the conduits going into the head end?
SUBMITTED BY RED WAVE COMM. INC:
11. There is verbiage within the Statement of Work referencing Class "A" for the wiring method. It does not appear that the existing fire alarm system has the conduit nor wiring to support this method. Given this, we will be required to install new conduit and wiring throughout the entire facility to accommodate this. For a proper Class "A" system, the fiber will also have to be installed in a redundant method including entrances and exiting each building. Does the faculty have as-builds of the current fire alarm system and conduit installation methods?
Clarification: BOP Technical Design Guidelines state the following for wiring methods;
A. System Wiring:
1. All notification circuits shall be supervised class B in accordance with applicable text in NFPA 72 part 3-4.
2. All signaling circuits used for detection and alarm devices shall be supervised class A in accordance with applicable text in NFPA 72 part 3-4.
3. All signaling circuits used for annunciator panels and networked panels (where applicable) shall be supervised class B in accordance with applicable text in NFPA 72 part 3-4.
