About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for interior tank cleaning services at Marin Headlands. The National Park Service Pacific West Region is seeking contractors to use divers to clean three above-ground concrete water storage tanks totaling 800,000 gallons in volume and approximately 20 feet deep. The tanks are located at Fort Cronkhite, Fort Baker, and Fort Barry, with each site containing one or two connected 200,000 gallon tanks separated by concrete walls. The amendment provides additional details on tank dimensions in response to questions, confirms divers must follow NSF disinfection procedures, and lists contact information for the contracting officer and COR. The closing date for responses was not included in this amendment.

Question 2. The description of Work on attachment

J is little confusing: "This shall be done while maintaining an active water system on selected tanks unless National Park Service (NPS) can maintain a bypass to allow each tank to be drained during the work."

Answer Question 2. Divers will follow NSF disinfection procedures, (Bleach water spray down before entering tanks etc.)

Question 3. There was not enough information on the reservoirs regarding dimensions, depths to put together a bid price.

Answer Question 3. Fort Cronkhite and Fort Baker tanks are both 400,000 gallon above ground concrete tanks. Each of the sites are divided in half with a concrete separation wall making each cell 200,000 gallons. Each of those cells is approximately 20 feet in depth, rectangle in shape. The last tank at the Fort Barry site is a round concrete tank buried in the hillside.

200,000 gallons total and once again divided in half with a concrete dividing wall. Once again approximately 20 feet deep.

All tanks have permanently mounted ladders inside for entry.
