SITE VISIT – 9:00 am Thursday, September 5, 2024

SITE VISIT SUMMARY:

A pre-proposal site visit was conducted on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Participants met at

9:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) at the Headquarters for the park at 1 Bear Valley Road, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956. After gathering at the HQ parking lot participants drove to the

Truttman Barn site. There they walked around the site to see the debris to be removed and access to the site. At approximately 10:00 am, participants drove to the Seroity cabin site where they viewed the cabin to be removed and access to the site. Questions asked during the site visit are answered below. The site visit concluded at approximately 11:00 a.m.

PROJECT QUESTIONS FROM SITE VISIT:

1. Question: Where is access to the Truttman Barn debris?

Answer: Access for equipment is on the left side of the standing barn/workshop. Tree limbs along the access should be trimmed by the contractor as needed for equipment access. The contractor should coordinate with NPS before trimming tree limbs. Any grass needing mowing should be mowed by the contractor. The contractor should coordinate with NPS before mowing grass to be sure it is outside of nesting season. A concrete pad extending from the barn/workshop should be marked off by the contractor to assure no traffic travels over it.

2. Question: Is the partially collapsed tin roof that is partially attached to the standing barn/workshop also be removed as part of this project?

Answer: The partially collapsed tin roof addition on the standing structure will be removed as part of this project. Timbers still attached to the standing building should be removed if possible or cut flush with the structure’s walls. Materials removed are to be hauled off by the contractor.

3. Question: Will tree limbs and fallen trees be removed as part of this project?

Answer: At the Truttman barn site, limbs and tree debris on the ground should be hauled off by the contractor. Tree limbs and debris can be left on site at the Seroity cabin site.

Any trees on or leaning over Seroity cabin should be safely downed by the contractor and cut into manageable lengths and left on site. The contractor should coordinate with NPS before any trees are removed.

4. Question: Will the access area in front of Seroity cabin be mowed?

Answer: The contractor is responsible for mowing and brush removal if it is needed for access. The contractor should coordinate with NPS before any mowing or brush removal to be sure it is outside of nesting season.
