A: The project should be completed to two phases. Starting with the eastern 3/4 of the Main Hangar (Museum) floor should be done first, then the planes will be moved once the floor is cured, and the Historic Hangar and the remainder of the Main Hangar can be finished at the same time.
Q: Will both areas be able to be worked on simultaneously?
A: See question 1. The work will need to be executed in two phases with roughly equal square footage to allow for the NPS to move airplanes.
Q: Will the Spruce Mill model exhibit, wall mounted exhibits, or tent be moved?
A: No. Work on floors will need to work around and protect the exhibits in the museum. This is approximately 270 square feet for the Spruce Mill Model and 250 square feet for the Spruce Mill Tent.
Q: Will the floor stickers be removed?
A: Yes, contractor will need to remove the "social distancing" floor stickers will need to be removed by the contractor, but do not need to be replaced.
Q: The floors of the restrooms in the Historic Hangar appear to have a different finish. How should this be handled?
A: The restrooms should receive a similar product but with a slight grit mixed in to prevent slips if the floor gets wet. Toilets will be removed so floor system can be installed up to the sanitary drain.
Q: Are there any pictures of the two project sites that can be provided?
A: See attached.
Q: Are there any drawings of the two project sites that can be provided?
A: See attached.
Q: What system is currently on the floors now?
A: The building as-bult plans show the floor finish as a urethane system finish over concrete.
Q: Can contractor staging and access be in the mechanical room of the main hangar?
A: Yes. Per Section 1.5 an area will be established at the preconstruction meeting. This will likely be the mechanical/riser room in the main hangar.
Q: Will after hours work and weekend work be allowed in addition to the work days/hours listed in the
SOW?
A: Per Part 1. 5 Contractor Use of Site, D. Working Hours “work outside regular hours requires advance approval from the Contracting Officer.” If the Government determines working outside these hours/days is in the best interest of the project, we may permit weekend hours.
Q: Could you please confirm the number of coats required for the new system. Under 2.2.2 of the specification it shows two prime coats, a body coat, and a top coat, totaling a 4 coat system. Please confirm if a 4 coat system is what is wanted.
A: Section 2.2 is designed to meet the requirements of the manufacturer’s directions of the General Polymers 4638 High Solids Polyurethane Floor Enamel and General Polymers 3504 High Solids Primer/Sealer. Product information is attached.
