Amendment 0001 The purpose of this amendment is to provide the answers to some questions that have been submitted to the contract specialist.

Q1: I am assuming replacement of air handlers and interior coils of all units to keep the SEER rating, is that correct?

A1: Yes, interior and exterior units and appurtenances of all heat-pump and/or furnace/air conditioning systems shall be removed and replaced. Exterior units and interior and exterior appurtenances for evaporative coolers shall be removed and replaced. Ducts, registers, and similar need not be replaced excepting where necessary to install new equipment. If ducted systems are being replaced with ductless systems, the contractor shall blank and/or abandon unused ducts. Protect ducts used by other systems.

Q2: Existing equipment in some housing units are propane furnaces serving as the air handler. Since all the specified outdoor units are heat pumps are we replacing the indoor units with air handlers or are we providing new propane furnaces where old ones are in place and staging for heat with both?

A2: Where heating is provided by the heat pump, the furnace may be replaced by an air handler. If the heat pump or air conditioning cannot provide adequate heating, a propane furnace shall be installed.

Electric heat strips may augment heating or provide back-up heating but shall not be the primary heating system. Furnaces shall meet all efficiency requirements in the contract and attachments.

Q3: on the EVAPCO unit, are we replacing the entire exhaust fan assembly (fan, mounts, bearings, motor and VFD controller) or just the failed VFD controller?

A3: The entire fan assembly shall be replaced.
