Solicitation 140P5121Q0043, Amendment 0001 Questions and Answers

1. Regarding the below bullet in the SOW: does this mean that the contractor should highlight projects that NPS units have already undertaken, or should the contractor propose new ideas for projects that could be undertaken in the future by NPS sites?

“7) Case Studies The Researcher shall identify 5-10 projects that can be highlighted as innovative or creative ways that research is communicate to the public. The projects should be described in short 1-2-page summaries. These shall be included in the final report, but also submitted as stand alone files.”

Answer: The intent was to highlight existing NPS projects. As the contractor will be reviewing all NPS efforts we thought it would make sense to highlight successes. However, it would also be acceptable for the contractor to highlight projects from outside the NPS. Although there is no expectation that the contractor must review organizations other than NPS.

2. Does the project only include the states currently in Region 2 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), or does it also include those formerly in the Southeast region (which would add Kentucky, Mississippi, and Louisiana)? We ask because the SOW refers to “Interior Region 2 encompasses approximately 70 parks in 9 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands,” but the redefined Region 2 (as noted here: https://www.nps.gov/carto/hfc/carto/media/NPS_UnifiedRegionsMap2020.jpg) appears to exclude KY, MS, and LA.

Answer: Yes, the project encompasses the area of NPS’ legacy Southeast Region, including Kentucky, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
