Solicitation 140P4222Q0047 High Density Storage - Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site (HOFU)

Questions and Answers

Q1. Why do the specs say (2) mobile shelving systems? What is each comprised of?

A1. See drawing attached to Amendment 0001.

Q2. Is a floor plan and a layout of the mobile shelving units available?

A2. Attached to Amendment 0001.

Q3. Can you provide a rough sketch of how many carriages and of which sizes go into each of the two mobile storage systems?

A3. Drawing of space dimensions for storage systems attached. Carriage layout can be determined based upon measurements provided in SOW.

Q4. What if any obstacles, columns, sprinklers, light fixtures, pipes, signage, and doorways are in the way of the systems?

A4. Drawing measurements take into account any obstructions.

Q5. Are overall drawings and elevation drawings available?

A5. General drawing is attached to Amendment 0001. Elevation drawings for building are not available.

Q6. Is there a layout showing where the walls are in relation to the system and if the short carriages line up in the front or with the rear of the longer carriages?

A6. Attached to Amendment 0001.

Q7. Do you have a CAD drawing of the building and space where the systems are to be installed?

A7. No. Drawing attached of interior of building with measurements. No drawing available of building.

Q8. What is the overall width (depth) of carriages? What are the widths, depths and heights of the shelving? How high should the shelving uprights be?

A8. Mobile Storage # 1 - Fixed carriages (3 units): (1) 108" x 96" x 30 (2) 108" x 96" x 30" (3) 108" x 48" x 30" ; Mobile carriages (50 total) : 40 carriages - 95" x 42" x 32", 10 carriages- 95" x 30 x 32".

Mobile Storage # 2 - Fixed carriage (2 units): 97" x 42" x 18" ; Mobile Carriages (6 total) : 6 carriages - 97" x 42" x 36".

Q9. Must fixed ranges be on platforms (carriages without wheels)?

A9. Fixed-range can be either floor or platform mounted.

Q10. Are bolted carriages permitted?

A10. No, welded carriages are required.

Q11. Are the (10) large carriages, (3) small carriages, and (2) fixed ranges described in the RFQ to be considered as one of the two systems called for?

A11. 10 large carriages & 1 fixed range for one mobile system and 3 small carriages & 1 fixed range for the second mobile system.

Q12. What is the required aisle space to be within the system?

A12. Mobile Storage # 1 - 60" ; Mobile Storage # 2 - 40"

Q13. Are MA safety sweeps needed?

A13. Not required.

Q14. The specification states we should provide manufacturers standard for safety sweeps, waste high locks & Anti tips. Are these items required?

A14. Safety sweeps, waste high locks & anti-tips are not required. SOW change

Q15. What is the rough elevation of shelving needed? What is the clear opening between shelves?

A15. Fixed carriage shelving: 16.5" & 12" ; mobile carriage shelving: 13.5" ; one mobile carriage unit w/ shelf at 48" & (5) vertical dividers (top & bottom); one mobile carriage unit w/ no shelving but w/ shelf supports in back to add stability SOW change

Q16. What is the required weight capacity per shelf?

A16. 300 lbs. minimum.

Q17. What style and type of shelving are you calling for?

A17. Sheet steel shelving with powder coat paint finish.

Q18. How many shelves per shelving unit?

A18. Mobile Storage # 1 - Fixed carriages (3 units) : 7 shelves per unit ; mobile carriage shelving : 7 shelves per unit. Mobile Storage # 2 - 8 shelves for 6 units, 1 unit with one shelf, & one unit without.

Q19. Can you clarify the requirements for uprights to recess no less than ¾” into the carriages and acceptability of ‘top mount’ method?

A19. Variation of recess into carriage <1" will be allowed with change to welded carriages only.

Q20. Are the shelving uprights to be closed or open? Does that apply to the intermediate uprights as well?

A20. Closed on starter uprights ; Open on intermediate uprights

Q21. Is this a 1st floor install? If not, which floor?

A21. Ground level building.

Q22. Is a freight elevator available?

A22. No.

Q23. Is a loading dock available?

A23. No, ground level building.

Q24. Is forklift available for use?

A24. No

Q25. Can installation, including drilling, be completed during normal business hours?

A25. Yes

Q26. Will a plywood subfloor be acceptable as a finished floor?

A26. Plywood/laminate.

Q27. Will the systems be installed on existing concrete or recessed in concrete?

A27. Install on existing concrete floor.

Q28. Does this bid need to be priced on GSA schedule?

A28. No, this is an open market RFQ.

Q29. Will there be a site visit for this project?

A29. Yes, see Solicitation section 3, Instructions to Offerors, item 3.
