Solicitation 140P4222Q0047 High Density Storage - Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site (HOFU) Additional Questions and Answers
Q1. Does the fixed carriage in system #1 get qty (2) 96”W shelving units and qty (1) 48”W shelving unit like A8 appears to indicate which equals a fixed shelving row of 20’L which can only fit on the far right hand side of the system? Is that what the white rectangles indicate on the far right hand side of the system layout you provided?
A1. Yes, fixed shelving only on the far right of system #1 which are represented by the white rectangles on the layout provided.
Q2. If yes to above, this would require what the industry calls “wide-span shelving” which uses thicker shelf supports then standard shelving does as shown below in order to span widths like 96”.
A2. If "wide-span shelving" is required to fulfill the SOW request for system # 1 dimensions & layout then submit as necessary.
Q3. If wide span shelving is required for the fixed shelving in system #1 as explained above you can not achieve 7 shelves of storage with shelves on 16.5” and 12” centers as indicated in A15 and A18 due to the thickness of the shelf supports so please indicate how many shelves of storage and what width shelving is needed for the fixed shelving and if it is located on the far right in system #1.
A3. Seven shelves of storage can be achieved within the footprint dimensions of the shelving units on the layout with properly rated uprights, beams, and decking. The 16.5" & 12" are referring to the height between each shelf (16.5" for fixed & 12" for system #2 mobile). Qty (7) shelves each fixed unit - Shelf dims. as listed in SOW: 108" (h) x 96" (w) x 30" (d).
Q4. If there is a fixed shelving on far right side of system #1 is there any reason why you can’t have fixed shelving on far left hand side of system #1 as well which would save money and what would normally be done in a case like this?
A4. No fixed shelving on the far left side of system #1. Requirement for this SOW is for one fixed shelving in system #1 on the far right with open pallet racking already installed on the far left to remain in bldg.
as noted in layout (Existing pallet racking).
Q5. Is your SOW trying to describe system #1 with qty (10) 16.5’L rows of shelving [either all 10 mobile or qty (9) mobile and qty (1) fixed, as suggested above] and qty (1) 20’L row of fixed shelving?
A5. Yes, system # 1 is qty (10) mobile carriage system with 16.5'L rows of shelving with qty (1) fixed row of fixed on the far right with an overall length of 20'
Q6. If yes to question above does your floor plan take into consideration that all mobile systems need about 3” clearance between back of the shelving and rear wall and have handles in front that need about another 5.25”H so overall system will need about 17’2.25” from back wall to tip of handle in front of the shelving if qty (10) shelving rows are 16.5’L in system #1?
A6. Yes.
