# Questions Answers
Should duct cleaning be a part of the SOW when you remove the existing AHU # 1 and the furnace associated with AHU # 3?
Duct Cleaning is not part of the contract SOW.
Is the PVC flue pipe and PVC intake air pipe associated with the furnace for AHU # 3 to be replaced?
The existing PVC flue and PVC intake air pipes are to be reused.

If replaced, how does the PVC leave the facility as a concentric package? Oes it exit through the wall or through the roof?
The existing PVC flue and PVC intake air pipes are to be reused.
2b
If replaced, how is the PVC flue and PVC air intake secured and flashed to the rooftop and/or at the wall penetration?
The existing PVC flue and PVC intake air pipes are to be reused.
2c
If replaced, does the new Trane Unit have the PVC flue and PVC air intake or just standard b-vent or pressurized flue?
The existing PVC flue and PVC intake air pipes are to be reused.
2d
If replaced and it comes with standard b-vent or pressurized flue where will we get the combustion air intake and who will complete the roof penetration work and/or wall penetration work?
The existing PVC flue and PVC intake air pipes are to be reused. No new roof penetrations are required.
Are there condensate pumps associated with the new HVAC installations for AHU # 1 and
AHU # 3?
No new condensate pumps are required
AHU #1 Ties into a gravity drain.
AHU #3 ties into existing pump shared with the adjacent air handling unit
Are there new duct mounted smoke detectors being installed on either AHU # 1 or AHU # 3 replacements?
The duct mounted smoke detectors are not part of the
SOW.
Do both AHU # 1 and AHU # 3 operate on a Building Automation System (BMS), or Energy Management System (EMS) or does each system just operate through a local controlled thermostat?
N/A - Both AHU #1 and AHU #3 operate through a local controlled thermostat.

If there is an automated control system for the HVAC equipment, is there a proprietary control system subcontractor?
No - Both AHU #1 and AHU #3 operate through a local controlled thermostat.
5b If the new systems operate from locally controlled thermostats, what brand, type, and model number thermostats are required?
AHU #1: Refer to SOW Task 1) AHU #1 Replacement, Section C. paragraph 3.
AHU #3: Provide a new thermostat is to be provided that is compatible with the proposed unit.
Do we have to pull a Mechanical Permit through the City or County of Frederick for HVAC Equipment replacement?
No
Do we have to provide temporary cooling or heating during the HVAC equipment change-out?
No
Do we have to provide Testing and Balancing (TAB) services for the new HVAC equipment that we replace?
No - you are to follow the SOW "commissioning" tasks: - Perform start up to confirm system function.
- Train facility staff in operation of new equipment: start up and shut down, thermostat function, filter changes and preventative maintenance practices.
Is there new Lightning Protection System (LPS) installation hookups or tie-ins associated with the installation of the new outdoor or indoor HVAC equipment?
No
Will the Limit of Disturbance (LOD) in the parking lots be free of vehicles and pedestrian traffic during the demo and installation of the new outdoor HVAC equipment?
The NPS will provide access that is free of vehicles and pedestrian traffic during the demo and installation of the new outdoor HVAC equipment.
Are the platforms structurally sound where the new outdoor HVAC equipment is to be located?
The platforms are structurally sound.
Will the NPS remove the railing systems to the equipment platforms prior to demo and installation of the existing and new outdoor HVAC equipment?
Yes - the NPS will remove the sections of the railing systems to the equipment platforms to prior to demolition and installation of the existing and new outdoor HVAC equipment.
Industry standards is a 1-year parts and optional 1-year labor warranty. (See AAON Unit Submittal for AHU-1, Feature Option, Line Item # 22 “WARRANTY” which calls for Standard 1- Year Parts) and (See AAON Unit Submittal for CU-1, Feature Option, Line Item # 21 “WARRANTY” which calls for Extended Compressor Warranty – Years 2-5)

Are we to provide an extended 5-year parts and labor warranty on ALL indoor and outdoor equipment components for AHU # 1 and AHU # 3?

Are we to provide a 5-year maintenance contract covered under this installation to substantiate the 5-year parts and 5-year labor warranty as required under this contract?
No - Updated SOW to reflect 1-year parts and optional 1-year labor warranty.
The period of performance is 60-days after contract award. The submittal process and completing the front-end paperwork will take up a third of that time… The HVAC equipment will be a long lead item, so with that said, will the 60-day completion term be extended on this contract?
The Period of Performance will be updated to 120 days after contract award.
On the AHU # 3 Replacement you call for a 4- Ton Trane Outdoor Unit and a 5-Ton Trane Indoor Furnace. The tonnages do not match. Is this by design?
Yes this is by design
NPS will take care of any and all deck repairs to the (2) platforms for the outdoor HVAC equipment, correct?
Yes.
There are no isolation pads or springs installed on either indoor unit, is this also true for the outdoor equipment?
No isolation pads are present or required for the indoor or outdoor units.
17a Does NPS want isolators installed on the new HVAC systems for AHU # 1 and AHU # 3?
No - see above.
17b If so, what type? And if so, where (indoor and/or outdoor)?
See above.
How many extra sets of air filters are we to provide under this contract?
AHU #1: provide six filters sized to fit the new unit.
AHU #3: provide six filters sized to fit the new unit.
18a Are there any other extra consumables we are to provide under this contract?
No
When does NPS anticipate this project being funded?
The project funding is anticipated within this fiscal year.
20 May we get a copy of the sign-in sheet?
As a matter of practice the NPS does not share pre-bid walk-through sign-in sheets. They are for use by the Contracting Officer only.
