About this file
This is Amendment 2 to solicitation 140P1525Q0017, providing responses to contractor questions about the recarpeting project at Tuzigoot National Monument Visitor Center. The amendment clarifies that the National Park Service will handle furniture/fixture relocation in two phases to allow carpet installation, the Visitor Center will be closed during construction starting after window abatement completion on February 28, 2025, and contractors should provide carpet samples that closely match existing colors.
Key details include: The project involves removing existing carpet and installing new carpet in visitor use areas, with contractors to provide estimates for both 2000 sf and 3355 sf options depending on budget availability. The raised display area carpet should match or be similar to existing lighter colored carpet. Office areas may be included if within budget, with contractors to provide estimates both with and without office areas. Period of performance is February 13, 2025 to March 28, 2025. The contracting agency is the Department of Interior National Park Service Intermountain Region, Arizona MABO office in Flagstaff.

2. Will there be any preference in carpet and color that can be extended to the contractors prior to the award? This will also assist with basing our pricing structure.
ANSWER: The contractor shall provide samples for selection. We would like to choose a color that closely matches the existing carpet.
3. Will the Visitor's Center be open to the general public while the new carpet is being installed? If so, will the contractor work on a room-to-room basis that will be closed off to the general public? Please provide more insight as to the arrangements that will be made.
ANSWER: The Visitor Center will be closed to the public during construction. We aim to begin work immediately after the completion of the window abatement to minimize the duration of the closure. Completion of abatement- February 28, 2025.
4. Does the material in the raised display need to be the same color as the floor or a different color?
ANSWER: Material in raised display shall be the same or similar color as existing color in raised display. I believe it is a lighter color than the floor.
5. I noticed the carpet in the office area has some heavy wear, especially near the desks due to the rolling chairs. We were told by Mr Miller not to replace the carpet in the office area. Is that correct?
ANSWER: If the estimate for replacing the carpet in the office area falls within the funding threshold, then the offices will be included in the project as well. However, if the budget does not allow for it, the office area will remain as
is. Please estimate with and without office areas.
6. Could you provide clarification on what is actually being replaced? The SOW states there is
