About this file

This document is a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) inspection report for Building 96 Apartments at Glacier National Park. The inspection identified the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in the 9-inch floor tiles, kitchen sink sound proofing, and potentially in the sheetrock and texturing. Lead-based paint was also found in the exterior door trim. Samples of the materials were sent to a laboratory for analysis. The report includes details on the building construction, conditions of the materials, and a risk assessment. This appears to be a survey report intended to update the HAZMAT records for this facility, rather than a solicitation or contract document.

BUILDING #96

APARTMENTS:

RODENT INFESTSTION: None found, MOLD: None found.

Respectfully, Building Inspector

This structure is a wood-framed single-story, 8 unit apartment complex resting on a concrete foundation. The interior walls and ceilings are sheetrock and texture. The flooring is concrete with 12” tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms and the living rooms are 9” tiles covered with carpeting.

The exterior is sided with vertical wood siding and the trussed roofs are tar paper and asphalt shingles. The complex also houses a centrally located laundry area and a storage room. The attic is exposed rafters with blown-in insulation. This structure was built in 1966.

ASBESTOS: Suspect asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) were found in the 9” tiles under the existing carpet areas in each unit, the sound proofing on the kitchen sinks and possibly the sheetrock and texturing. The roofing tar paper and shingles were also suspect. Samples of each suspect material were taken and sent to Reservoirs Environmental Inc. for further analysis.

LEAD: LEAD/CHECK swabs were used for lead testing. All interior and exterior painted surfaces were tested and some positive results were found in the exterior door trimwork. Samples were taken from each and sent to Reservoirs Environmental Inc. for further analysis.

The following narratives describe the HAZMAT mitigation and/or abatement that will take place when a project is done on this location. The completion of the project will either eliminate or render harmless the known HAZMAT so that it poses no threat to anyone coming into contact with it.

Asbestos Containing Material (Identify what will be disturbed in a potential project, if the material will be partially or totally removed, if the material will be exposed to occupants and what will be done to communicate its presence):

WHEN FUNDS BECOME AVAILABLE A LICENSED ASBESTOS CONTRACTOR WILL

REMOVE ASBESTOS MATERIALS FROM BUILDING

Rodent Presence: As a minimum a rodent infestation remediation will require: 1) Infestation cleanup procedures complying with GNP Hantavirus Safety Procedures, Sections 4.3 (light infestation) and 4.4 (heavy infestation) cleanup procedures. 2) Following cleanup, written documentation acknowledging infestation remediation provided to the GNP Safety Manager for files retention. Additional mitigation as follows:

N/A

Mold (Identify what will be done to remove the mold, what will be done to prevent its recurrence and what will be done to monitor future infestations):

N/A

Lead-Based Paint (Identify what will be disturbed in a potential project, what mitigation method will be used, if any material will be exposed to occupants and what will be done to communicate its presence):
