About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding solicitation number 140P1424Q0008 from the Department of the Interior National Park Service Intermountain Region for 55kVA mobile generators and manual fused transfer switches. The questions and answers clarify specifications such as requiring a 4-position voltage selector switch for 3-phase 120/240V output, 100-foot cable lengths in 16 sections per color, female camlock pigtails for load connections, UL2200 being preferred but not required for mobile generators, and powder coated steel or aluminum being acceptable for sound attenuated enclosures.

Attachment – Amendment 0001 – RFQ 140P1424Q0008 – Yellowstone Generators Vendor Questions & Answers

1. Which of you is the primary contact to send the quote to (the RFQ says Sally, but SAM says Casey)?

a. Sally is the primary contact.

2. Regarding the generators – it appears from you transfer switch specs, that you have 3PH 120/240V is not a standard output for the three-position voltage selector switch on the generators. If you want the generator to produce 3PH 120/240V, you will need a 4-position voltage selector switch. Please advise.

a. A 4-position voltage selector switch is the correct switch spec.

3. Regarding the Load Bank Cables, can you clarify the length? Are you looking for 16 100ft lengths for each color (and so 32, 50ft sections)? Or are you looing for only 16, 50ft sections per color? And if you want a set for each generator, you will only need 6 per color – we are uncertain how bullet #5 matches bullets #3-4.

a. 16 - 100ft sections per color. In the park we have many areas that are hard to get to and would require large cable lengths to reach in emergency situations.

4. Do you want Male or Female camlock on the pigtails? Both the generator and transfer switch will have camlock connections, so we are unsure how these fit into the equipment requirements.

a. Pigtails would be female. These are needed for buildings that might not have a transfer switch on it so we need to convert the wiring on the load end to cam lock so that we may use the camlock cables for safe installation.

5. Please confirm UL2200 requirements under “Alternator Specifications” as given these are mobile generators (on a trailer), UL2200 is not a typical requirement.

a. UL2200 is preferred but not required.

6. Sound Attenuated Enclosure (aluminum vs steel), please confirm if a powder coated steel, sound attenuated enclosure is acceptable, as opposed to aluminum.

a. Powder coated steel is also acceptable.
