About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for recreation area improvements at the Dinosaur Hill Recreation Area in Fruita, Colorado. The Bureau of Land Management Colorado Region is seeking a contractor to perform work including concrete curbs and walkways, trail aggregate, pre-cast concrete curb pans with fossil art, shade shelters, drainage ditches, culverts, concrete walkways, fences, and picnic tables and benches. The period of performance is from March 1, 2023 to May 31, 2023. The estimated value is between $250,000 and $500,000. The amendment provides responses to bidder questions, which include clarifying that abandoned highways can be used to transport materials, pickups can be used on trails while minimizing new access points, steel cable can be recycled, and shade shelter specifications. It also includes an example of engraving for benches and tables. The solicitation is set aside for small businesses and responses are due by September 13, 2022.

Q2: Can pickups be used to transport material up and down the trails?

A2: Keep disturbance within trail corridor to the extent possible; do not drive or create accessways outside of disturbed trail corridor.

Q3: Can the contractor recycle steel cable demolished from barrier fence?

A3: The Contractor should dispose of steel cable off site. Cable may be recycled or reused at contractor's discretion.

Q4: Can the specified shade shelters be substituted with RCP Shelters due to the excessive lead time from Classic Rec?

A4: Yes with one caveat ¿ if you go this route, you need to make sure the specified head clearance (on our drawings ¿ 7¿-2¿ ) is maintained with a slab over-topping their foundation pier. We don¿t want to see their pier within our slab ¿ our slab goes over it ¿ detail

3 on sheet C501 and C502.

Q5: Tables and benches called out on the plans is different than the call outs in the specs. There are 2 areas of 3 benches called out on the north trail. Bid sheet only calls for 3 benches at East

Shelter, Plan has 3-403 benches West Shelter, 3-412 benches East Shelter.

A5: See the revised drawings - Attachment 5 which corrects the error.

Q6: What level of engraving or concrete imprinting do you expect on benches and tables?

A6: See Attachment 6 for example from a vendor;

the amount of engraving or imprinting on the bench shown in plan view is typical of the expectation of engraving or imprinting for this project.

Period of Performance: 03/01/2023 to 05/31/2023
