140G0121R0021 Research Vessel Sturgeon Haulout
Amendment 0001, Questions and Responses:
1. Question: The following drawings are not included in the information available online:
· Blocking Plan
· General Arrangement Response: General arrangement plans have been added at Attachments B.1 and B.2. A blocking plan is not available.
2. Question: Attachment D Schedule of Pricing incorrectly states in the footer that it is Attachment E Release of Claim.
Response: Corrected.
3. Question: Work item 8.1a in the specification states that it is an Option item, however it is not referred to as an option item on the pricing schedule.
Response: Corrected, refer to the revised Schedule of Pricing at Attachment D.
4. Question: At the end of the work items list there is an option item listed with the work item number stated as TBD and the description Install Hydrophone Housings and Hydrophones, however the only reference to Hydrophones is work item 8.21 in the Specification and is included on the Schedule of Pricing.
Response: Corrected. Item 8.21 has been designated “Option” in the revised Schedule of Pricing at Attachment D. The separate work item “Tbd, Install Hydrophone Housings and Hydrophones” is not a valid item and is removed from the Schedule of Pricing.
5. Note: A revised Attachment D Schedule of Pricing (i.e. work item list) is included with Amendment 0001. The only changes to this list are removal of the redundant work item discussed in Question 4 above, designation of multiple items as Options, and addition of work item 8.22.
6. Question: Item 8.8, Replace Existing vinyl Floor Tiles. Specification states that the existing vinyl tile is to be replaced in the passageway on the upper deck but the reference JMS Drawing 20-113-645 includes the port side upper deck head flooring. Please clarify if the head flooring is to be included or not. If the head flooring is to be included, please send pictures showing the existing flooring/space.
Response: The upper deck head vinyl tiles are to be replaced. Photos of the area are added at Attachment G.
7. Question: 7.4 Bow Thruster Inspection and Maintenance – Wesmar no longer supports the DPC-50 Bow Thruster currently installed on the Sturgeon and as such replacement bearings and seals are no longer available. Would you like the shipyard to price purchasing a 16” replacement thruster drive leg, saddle and motor adapter assembly to replace your existing unit? If you would like to purchase a new thruster drive leg, the shipyard will need the USGS to confirm the frame size on the existing AC motor. Please advise on how the USGS would like to proceed.
Response: The bow thruster will not be replaced. Seals and bearings are generic parts that are readily available from other suppliers, and generic parts will be acceptable for replacement.
8. Question: 8.2 Inspect and Coat Anchor Chain – How long is the chain? Do you want every link gauged or only one link every so many feet (USGS to specify increment)? Also, Please clarify if the cost of Renewing Shot Marks is to be included in pricing or addressed via a modification after the condition found report.
Response: There are 7 shots of chain. Chain shall be gauged at 20 ft nominal intervals, but the exact spacing and links to be checked are subject to the as found conditions. Cost of renewing shots marks is to be included in the bid price for the work item.
