About this file

This document contains the specifications for the purchase of four AirClean PCR Workstations by the Whitney Genetics Lab (WGL) in Region 3. The workstations will be used for a metabarcoding Early Detection and Monitoring (EDM) project being conducted in collaboration with the USFWS Northeast Fishery Center (NEFC) in Region 5. The workstations must meet specific performance requirements, including an ISO 5 vertical laminar flow air, UVTect microprocessor controller, UV shelf with pipettor holder, and quiet operation under 49dBA. The stations are required to be the "tall version" with external dimensions of 48" width x 24" depth x 41" height, and internal dimensions of 47" width x 23" depth x 29" height, requiring a standard 110V electrical outlet. This procurement is part of a USFWS program to support the FAC program's goal of managing aquatic invasive species, and the labs are required to use the same equipment to ensure consistent, replicable experiments across the two regions.

Specifications

Purchase of 4 AirClean PCR Workstation

In Region 3, Whitney Genetics Lab (WGL) is collaborating on a metabarcoding Early Detection and Monitoring (EDM) project with the USFWS Northeast Fishery Center (NEFC, Region 5). The program is being developed to aid FWCOs as a more efficient part of their monitoring efforts to aid in the early detection of AIS. This work is critical to the mission of the USFWS FAC program to Manage Aquatic Invasive Species (USFWS FAC Strategic Goal #3). It is essential that WGL follow established protocols to maintain data compatibility across two USFWS Regions. The program has been funded and will provide infrastructure and equipment support for both labs. The labs are tasked with developing their spaces as similarly as possible as well as using the same equipment, when possible, to ensure experiments are of the same type, quality, and are replicable between the two labs. The nature of this program requires equipment that ensures clean laboratory workspaces. To maintain cross-lab consistency the labs are required to use the same equipment whenever possible.
