Water Heating System Replacement at NCTC Question and Answer Set 1

For the commons area

Question 1: Can you provide the serial number for the packaged commercial water heater?

This will help tremendously in finding a suitable replacement?

Answer 1: The existing heat exchanger for the domestic water in Commons is a TACO Heat

Exchanger Model No. G18416-8L. However, please note that the basis of design for the new water heating system is per the water heater schedule, drawing sheet P101.1. This unit, or an equal, will be required.

Question 2: Can the government clarify whether the two water storage tanks in the Commons are 500 Ga or 1000 Ga each?

Answer 2: 1000 gallons each

Question 3: Do you want both pumps RP-C-1 and RP-C-2 to be replaced? What about RP-C-3

(in the pump schedule)? Or just leave it as it is?

Answer 3: Per detail 3/P-101, PR-C-3 is to be removed. Per detail 4/P-101 and the pump schedule on P101.1, there is no RP-C-3 in the new system.

For the support services

Question 4: The drawing keynote (1) indicates 750 Ga domestic water storage tanks to be replaced. However, the description for the tank in the schedule indicates the storage capacity as 500 Ga. Please clarify whether the two storage tanks that needs to be replaced, are 750 Ga or 500 Ga each.

Answer 4: Yes. Per drawing keynote 1 on sheet P-103, the existing water tanks to be removed are 750 gallons each. Per the water storage tank schedule and the packaged commercial indirect water heater schedule, the proposed water storage tank is 500 gallons and the indirect water heater has a storage capacity of 400 gallons.
