RFQ 140D0424Q0033 – Disaster Recovery

Contractor Question and Answers

Question Number

Vendor Question Government Response

1 Does this request require an existing facility or is a new facility acceptable within 100 radius of Denver?

Contractor is required to provide the demarcation location to an existing facility.

2 Is a existing colocation site acceptable for both recovery locations?

No.

3 Is the any requirement for a facility within 100 mile radius of Albuquerque, NM?

4 Our facilities manager can offer the location on lease to U.S. Government, is a lease situation most convenient?

No leases will be considered under this requirement.

5 If facilities are leased on a Base +4 yr option, what is the possibility of contract extension for leasing services beyond this timeframe?

See above response.

6 Does this infrastructure operation require back-up power/generator onsite sessions, for redundancy at second facility or are both expected singular solutions with an additional backup to the secondary backup?

Each Data Center shall have its own back-up power/generator onsite.

7 How many mainframes are needed at each site, primary, secondary?

One mainframe z15 with crypto express card shall be available for DOI at the contractor site. The contractor shall provide the resources per the SOW during the annual exercise and during a disaster declaration.

Contractor shall ensure the resources are available for DOI use.

8 Noting there's a 6.99kW per rack, how many racks at each site? Is 6.99kW the actual power draw anticipated on each of the racks or mainframes?

The 6.99KW is adequate coverage per rack.

DOI listed the DOI owned equipment, and the actual power calculation should be done by the contractor based on the list of Equipment. The estimated 6.99KW does not include the mainframe.

9 What power circuits do they require, i.e., 208V 30A single-phase, 208V 30A three-phase, something else?

208V 30A three-phase is the standard.

We typically have 2 separate circuits per rack for redundancy.

10 What is the total replicated SF required for primary disaster recovery site total replicated SF required for secondary disaster recovery site?

Contractor shall estimate SF required based on the Attachment A equipment.

11 Does the solicitation requirement for (2Qty) z15 IBM Mainframe be available at the time of contract award or is obtaining it during transition period acceptable?

The primary mainframe shall be available at the time of award and be located at site where the contractor provided the demarcation address. The secondary mainframe shall be available within 120 days of award.

12 Is all DOI equipment to be duplicated at both recovery facilities?

No, only at the primary site.

13 Has this solicitation provided the entire list of IT equipment required?

Yes

14 Is there a designated DR budget and are there any limits on any specific items?

Award will be made as a firm-fixed price order to the lowest price technically acceptable quotation.

15 What does ADC stand for? Albuquerque Data Center 16 Please clarify each one below.

a) The primary recovery facility needs to be "located within a 100-mile radius of the Denver Metropolitan Area."

b) The secondary recovery facility needs to be "located in a geographically separated area from the primary recovery facility and from ADC."

a. 100-mile radius of the Denver Metropolitan Area for the purpose of evaluation will be 100 miles from the Denver City Limits base on driving distance of google maps.

b. The secondary recovery facility must be at least 60 miles from the primary site and ADC site.

17 Can both primary and secondary recovery data centers be located outside the 100 mile radius of the Denver Metropolitan area? However, both backup data centers would be geographically separated from each other.

18 Can we get an extension?

19 What is the size of the current data center space? N/A 20 How many cabinets? 3 Cabinets can house all the DOI owned equipment.

21 What is current space power draw? N/A See answer on item 8.

22 For the network circuits, should the new circuits be sized similarly? Or shall we make recommendations for speeds?

Per the SOW, DOI will be responsible for the installation and cost of the circuits. DOI anticipates ordering similar sized circuits. Contractor can recommendations but it will not be part of the evaluation or award.

23 What is the quantity of cabinets for this environment? 4 Racks. 3 Full size Racks - 42U each Rack and a Medium size rack to house the DLM.

24 What are the sizes of the cabinets?

See answer on item 23

25 Will the entire environment be migrated to the new locations or is going to be done with some net new equipment?

Combination. Some will be moved, some will be new but similar in specs.

26 What is the overall anticipated power draw, and if known, what type of power circuits are required?

See answer on item 8 and 9.

27 Any physical security requirements?

Yes, see “2. Security Requirements” in the SOW.

28 Regarding 2nd Recovery Site will DOI be providing customer owned network, DLM equipment and replicate that to 2nd site?

No, adequate network shall be established between both sites to enable the restore from the DLM located at the primary site to the Mainframe at the secondary site.

29 Also, if 6.99 kW for Network equipment includes DLM equipment?

6.99 KW is per Rack not the total power draw.

30 Are they customer provided cabinets or vendor provided cabinets and how many?

The 3 cabinets are shall be provided by the contractor.

The DLM rack will be provide by DOI.

31 What are the plans for growth for the future?

The mainframe can be upgraded and changed in our production environment and that will require the same change at the disaster recovery site provided by the contractor.

The circuits can be changed also in the future based on DOI needs and based on DOI clients needs.

The DOI owned equipment can be replaced, we may add or remove some of the DOI equipment, but we will continue to use the same number of racks as the 3 racks are not fully stacked.

For Mainframe it notates: 3 GP We either need to know: what capacity setting on the general processor (GP) OR total # of MIPS DOI requires.

DOI has a 8562.P03 Model: T02 Our last CP300 study our CPC at 1757 MIPS
