About this file

This is a specifications document for a Wildland Fire Brush Truck Skid Unit (Model 168438) prepared by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners in Florida for inclusion in a competitive sealed bid solicitation for various fleet vehicles and equipment. The skid unit is designed for installation in the bed of a 2022 Ford F350 6.2L gasoline V8 Extended cab with CM flatbed and includes a 275-gallon water tank with 10-gallon foam cell capacity, a Darley 2BE 18V fire pump with recoil start backup, and a Hannay low-profile electric hose reel. The unit must not exceed 48 inches in width and 95 inches in length, with a total height under 45 inches when the hose reel is mounted. Critical components include a 5-gallon fuel tank for the pump motor, a Class A foam system (Scotty Model #4171), 150 feet of 3/4-inch Boostlite hose (50 feet on bottom reel, 100 feet on top), stainless steel plumbing throughout, and a comprehensive control panel with throttle, master switch, starter button, and instrumentation including discharge gauge and oil pressure warning light.

The skid unit must comply with applicable NFPA standards for the baffled water and foam tank construction and include translucent level sight gauges, a 3-inch diameter vent and overflow system, stainless steel quarter-turn ball valves throughout, a 2.5-inch gated suction intake on the rear with NH female thread, and 12-volt electric wiring integrated with the chassis battery through a master disconnect solenoid system. The dealer is responsible for arranging offload capabilities for delivery and must provide Hillsborough County Fleet Management with minimum quarterly build and order status updates. The vendor must supply digital and printed parts manuals and operator's manuals upon completion. The broader solicitation from which this specification derives estimates a project value of $900,500.00 for the one-time purchase and delivery of various fleet vehicles and equipment.
