Vendor Questions & Government Responses

1. What category of Qualified Applicator Certificate do we need for this particular solicitation?

FS Answer: The Forest Pest control category is the most appropriate (Cat E). The contractor can look at the link below to see if they can reasonably get the QAL or QAC before contract implementation:

https://www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/license/liccert.htm

Once certified, ensure you are registered with the County of San Diego (that part is free and pretty straightforward).

2. How many feet from the special use cabins are we expected to work?

FS Answer: The contractor is expected to perform all contract requirements up to 30 feet from cabins or outbuildings. No piles will be constructed within 100 feet from cabins or outbuildings. The contractor is only responsible for natural vegetation (not what cabin owners have created).

3. In regards to C.8-2.1.9 what existing down woody material under 12 inches is still connected to material about 12 inches. Examples of small limbs still attached to large bole of tree.

C.8-2.1.9 Pile Construction - All piles shall be constructed by laying limbs, stems, cut boles, and all other slash, including existing down woody material up to 12 inch diameter in the pile, in a vertical arrangement, so as to be triangular in shape. Slash shall be bucked to 4 foot lengths and limbed to facilitate tight piles.

FS Answer: Material under 12 inches will need to be cut away from material larger than

12 inches and placed in pile. Example limbs will need to be cut off of bole larger than 12 inches and placed in pile. Bole smaller than 12 inches will need to be cut and placed in pile.
