About this file

This document is a set of technical specifications for Fermentation Monitoring Equipment required by the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service. The government is seeking to acquire four (4) complete chemostat fermentation probes (sensors) to monitor bacterial growth rates in cultures of mixed bacterial populations. The probes must be compatible with and integrated into the existing Multifors-2 chemostat running Eve software, provide real-time biomass concentrations, and meet various technical requirements such as being autoclavable, having an acceptable wavelength range and optical path length, and working within a specified temperature range. The equipment must be delivered onsite within 60 days of the contract award. The solicitation number is 12805B24Q0447, and offers are due by the date noted in the document. The USDA Agricultural Research Service is the procuring agency for this requirement.

Specifications

Project: Fermentation Monitoring

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work: Acquisition of four (4) complete chemostat fermentation probes (sensors) for use in monitoring bacterial growth rates in cultures of mixed bacterial populations.

2.0 Background: Current research monitors bacterial growth rates in a four vessel Multifors-2 chemostat running Eve software. To improve consistency of the results, we must monitor bacterial growth in real time to optimize inoculations and sample collections. Data from the detection probes must be capable of being synced with the chemostat management software

(Eve) to run all parameters.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

1. Probes must be compatible with and capable of fully integrating into existing Multifors-2 chemostat running Eve software.

2. Probes must provide real-time biomass concentrations.

3. Probes must be autoclavable.

4. Probes must be compatible to work with 0.75 L reaction vessels.

5. All four (4) probes must be operational by a single signal converter or connect directly to the Multifors base units

6. Acceptable Probe Range of Wavelengths: 840-910 nm.

7. Acceptable Probe Optical Path Length (OPL): 5 mm.

8. Acceptable Probe Insertion Depth: 220 mm, with variable insertion depth options.

9. Probes must be made of stainless steel.

10. Probes must be capable of plugging into the existing Multifors-2 control panel - 4 mA-

Outputs (0/4 - 20 mA).

11. Probe installation will be included.

12. Probes must be Electro-polished Ra < 0.4

13. Probes must work within temperature range: 5 to 50 °C.

14. Probes must use Push-Pull Connectors.

15. Quote must include probe calibration.

16. Qty: 4 complete probe units.

17. The quote should include all of the components to be a fully functional system, and work in tandem with the Multifors-2 chemostat running Eve software.

4.0 Deliverables/Schedule: Shall be delivered onsite within 60 days ARO.
