Part 1 – The Schedule Cane Gully Trail Bridge Replacement

ERFO (SC2015-1-FS)

Section C – Description and Specifications

C.1 Project Scope

a. This project is comprised of all required labor, equipment and materials necessary to perform the following work:

b. Work includes but is not limited to: Fabrication and installation of a FRP truss bridge. Furnish and install Geosynthetic Reinforced Soil-Integrated Bridge System (GRS-IBS) abutments. Abutments include furnishing and installing geosynthetic fabric soil reinforcement, furnishing and installing timber face walls, furnishing and placing select borrow, furnishing and installing precast concrete bridge sills, and earth anchors. Construction of approaches including a wooden stairway.

The intent of the contract is to provide for the complete construction of the project described in the contract. Unless otherwise provided, the contractor is to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supplies and perform all work required to complete the project in reasonably close conformity with the drawings and specifications, and in accordance with the provisions of the contract. Payment for contract work will be made only for and under those pay items included in the Schedule of Items. All other work and materials will be considered as incidental to and included in the payment for items shown.

d. Once construction begins on site, activities will be limited to 30 consecutive days.

Location: The project site is located at approximate Mp 0.18 from the nearest trail heads on the Palmetto Trail – Swamp Fox Passage to both the north and south of the bridge site. Both trail heads are located approximately 19.8 road miles north of the Francis Marion Ranger District Office in Huger, South Carolina. The Palmetto Trail north trail head is located at 33°12.970’ North, 79 °53.603’ West. To drive to the north trail head on the Palmetto Trail – Swamp Fox Passage, from the Francis Marion Ranger District office at 2967 Steed Creek Road, drive northwest 3.0 miles on Steed Creek Road. Continue straight onto SC-402 W for an additional 12.7 miles. Turn Right onto Cane Gully Road for 3.0 miles. Turn right onto Callum Road for 1.0 miles to the north trailhead of the Palmetto Trail – Swamp Fox Passage. Proceed on the trail 0.18 miles to the south to arrive at the bridge site.

The Palmetto Trail south trail head is located at 33°12.705’ North, 79 °53.780’ West. To drive to the south trail head on the Palmetto Trail – Swamp Fox Passage, from the Francis Marion Ranger District office at 2967 Steed Creek Road, drive northwest 3.0 miles on Steed Creek Road. Continue straight onto SC-402 W for an additional 12.7 miles. Turn Right onto Cane Gully Road for 1.95 miles. Turn right onto Cane Gully Road for 1.32 miles to the south trailhead of the Palmetto Trail – Swamp Fox Passage. Proceed on the trail 0.18 miles to the north to arrive at the bridge site.

e. Price Range: Between $100,000 and $250,000 C.2 Standard Specifications for the Construction and Maintenance of Trails The Standard Specifications for the Construction for Construction and Maintenance of Trails, 2014 edition, are included by reference. The requirements contained in the specifications are hereby made a part of this solicitation and any resultant contract.
