Pre-Bid MTG Discussion and Q&A
Frenchman Creek Bridge Replacement Project June 8, 2023 @ 11:00 AM
General Discussion Notes:
· Sign-in sheet and introductions.
· Provided overview of the attached handouts.
· Mentioned topographic survey note on Drawing Sheet 2 of 7…basically the existing topography and elevation data is from the original design. Contractor will be required to take existing ground shots and set the required offset stakes to ensure that the new bridge is installed in the same alignment and at the same elevation as the existing one.
· Mentioned superstructure design requirements by Contractor (Drawing Sheet 1 of 7).
· Mentioned specification requirements for preparing various plans (structure excavation, dewatering, erosion control, and others) as submittals for review/approval prior to completing the work.
· Proposals are due on or before June 21, 2023 at 1630 Mountain Time.
Questions (answers in red italics) as follows:
1. Does it matter where materials are imported from? No, we don’t care as long as materials meet the contract requirements for gradation, durability, etc.
2. What happens if material lead times prevent an installation of the abutment members this fall as intended? The Government will move as quickly as possible through the award phase and will promptly review shop drawings, all to minimize delays.
3. What happens if inclement weather prevents the project from being completed this fall? The project schedule is structured to allow work through June 21, 2024, with the intent of having the new treated timber abutments and all other streamside work activities completed this fall.
4. Is permanent seeding included in this project? Yes.
5. Are they responsible for the removal/disposal of the existing treated timber bridge? Yes.
