Pre-Bid Inquiries (PBI’s) for Contract Bidding

PBI-001

Question: Has the current roof been tested for asbestos?

Answer: It has not been tested for asbestos because the roof was replaced in a major renovation in 1997. In this major renovation, asbestos mitigation and removal work was completed.

PBI-002

Question: I am looking over the plans for this project and I am not seeing any square feet for how large this roof is, there are only a few dimensions given for a total length but no width or any other numbers in there. This is an odd shaped building so I just wanted to verify the actual size for material pricing.

Answer: Rough estimate is 8,550 SF total.

PBI-003

Question: We are currently looking into the reroof project for the Mendenhall Visitor Center and are requesting more photos of the backside of the building which includes the Trail of Time as an access path for equipment. We see in the plans that it is not accessible for a vehicle over 4 feet. We wanted to see if it could be temporarily approved to bring a larger forklift up it to remove demo material and bring in the new material instead of a crane on the front side of the building.

Answer: There are some pinch points on the trail of time (see attached photos). Photos are provided for reference to determine size of forklift access.

PBI-004

Question: There is a callout in the drawings that states “All power & control conduit & wiring to be accomplished by electrical contractor licensed in the state of Alaska" are the individual electrical license sufficient for this requirement?

Answer: The electrician must be state-certified. Electrician can be licensed in any state, does not have to be Alaska.
