ARS JACKSON, TN BOILER REPLACEMENT Q&A DOCUMENT
1) Along with the boiler being replaced are you looking for associated components? Are you wanting any of the following included to be replaced?
• (2) Hot water mixing valves and actuators
• (4) Boiler loop isolation valves
• Pump and starter
Answer: The valves and actuators were replaced on all 4 greenhouses in 2017. Also, in September 2017, we had the pump that is in service now installed therefore they don’t require replacement. The control valves that are immediately threaded on the boiler are original and need to be replaced.
2) Question on the Install 3” water return lines to supply both greenhouses (Need the type of pipe, length, and drawings if possible)
Answer: The piping is ductile iron and should be replaced in kind. We run rust inhibiter in the system to deal with corrosion. Most of the piping is cased with insulation and labeled for flow. (Example, Water Return - City Water -Hot water, etc.). The site is available for inspection and measurements. Also since this will be inspected, and permits pulled for the job, Codes may have specific materials for use in this system. Hard copy drawings are on-site and available for inspection.
3) Question on Supply and install emergency shutoff and high pressure blow off (any recommendations or drawings )
Answer: This site was inspected recently by the State of Tennessee and the inspector cited this on the report. It was explained that we were in process of replacing the system. He indicated that we need to have an emergency shutoff outside the boiler room entry door. We require that rust inhibiter to be included back in the system when everything is re-filled with water. We have this onsite, and the contractor can utilize this. Hard copy drawings are on-site and available for inspection.
