The purpose of this amendment is to provide the agenda and sign in sheet for the pre-bid site visit.
Also provided in this amendment is a partial list of answers to question presented for clarification.
Q1.The scope of work states that the period of performance is 120 calendar days. In the condition that alternates 1 or 2 are awarded, will there be additional days added to the duration of the overall project, or is all work awarded to be completed in 120 calendar days?

A1. The period of performance for the all work whether or not alternates have been awarded shall be 180 calendar days.
Q2. The specifications state that there are liquidated damages incurred for not completing the project prior to the established deadline, but there is no monetary value placed on the liquidated damages that we can find. Could you please advise as to what these costs are, if there are any?
A2. No liquated damages shall be accessed for this project.
Q3. As discussed at the site visit, there was to be an asbestos report provided to establish the information needed to accurately price out abatement work that was not provided with the original contract documents. Could you please provide this asbestos survey?
A3. The government will provide the asbestos survey. See attached document
Q.4 Is there a required proprietary controls contractor for the location? Other USDA sites we have worked at have required a specific Digital
Controls contractor to perform work on the system so that the system is operated and maintained by a single system as most control systems are proprietary or specific to the location.
A4. The existing controls are pneumatic and electronic. There is not a proprietary control system at this site.
Q5. Specification section 23 64 26 on Steam
Piping seems to be a bit vague. It does not specify the schedule of steel pipe to be used for the steam piping work, this section seems to deal more with water piping than steam piping. Typical steam piping is schedule 40 and steam condensate return is schedule 80, but none of this information is listed in the specifications.
There is also no specification on the steam traps. Could you provide more information on the steam piping requirements, or make sure the steam piping specification is the correct specification to reference steam piping as applicable to this

A5. Steam piping shall be carbon steel, ASTM A53
Grade B, Seamless or Electric Resistance Welded, Schedule 40. Steam Condensate piping shall be carbon steel, ASTM A53 Grade B, Seamless or
Electric Resistance Welded, Schedule 80. Steam traps shall be Float & Thermostatic Steam Traps, Minimum 150 lbs/hr @ ¼ psi differential.
Q6. Specification 23 00 00 2.10.1 e. is this pertaining to the whole line of ductwork that is labeled O/A? Or was it pertaining to all the duct outside? Please clarify if this is the whole line or just the outside portion.
A6. Part e is for ductwork located outside.
Q7. Where is Temp-power coming to be supplied to keep power on while replacing transformer. Also, new transformer location does not meet electrical code.
A7. Contractor to provide temporary power. The new pad-mounted transformer shall meet the recommended minimum clearances as recommended by the transformer manufacturer and the NEC. The contractor shall modify/extend the existing pad as required to meet the minimum clearances.
All terms and conditions remain unchanged.
