About this file

This document is a Specification for Two Plant Growth Chambers for the CBP Research Unit at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria, Illinois. The specification requires two plant growth chambers to replace older units with insufficient LED lighting for corn and soybean research. Technical requirements include chambers designed for plant growth, programmable light cycles and temperature, maximum dimensions of 106" long x 40" deep x 79" high, a growth area of at least 15 ft², LED lighting with adjustable intensities at specific wavelengths (450, 660, and 735 nm), additive humidity, and water or air cooling. The delivery is to be made via lift gate to 1815 North University, Peoria, IL 61604 within 150 days of award, with the primary purpose of enabling scientists to perform experiments for identifying plant disease control products.

Specifications

Project: Two Plant Growth Chambers

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work

Provide two plant growth chambers with the technical requirements/capabilities outline in 3.0.

2.0 Background

Two plant growth chambers are necessary for experiments by the CBP Research Unit that require a controlled and steady environment. The two chambers will be replacing older units at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria, Illinois. The older units have LED lighting systems that are insufficient for growing corn and soybeans, which are important crops in our research program. These chambers will enable scientists to perform appropriate experiments to identify plant disease control products.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks

• Each growth chamber should be designed for growing plants.

• Each growth chamber should be capable of being programmed for varying the length of the light cycle and the temperature during the light and dark periods.

• Each growth chamber shall be a maximum of 106” long, a maximum of 40” deep, and a maximum of

79” high.

• The growth area shall be 15 ft2 or larger.

• The lighting shall be provided by LEDs. The LEDs shall provide light at the specific wavelengths of

450, 660 and 735 nm. The light provided at these specific wavelengths should be adjustable in intensity.

• The chamber shall have additive humidity.

• The chamber shall be water cooled or air cooled.

4.0 Deliverables / Schedule

Delivery to be made via lift gate to 1815 North University, Peoria, IL 61604 within 150 days of award.
