SUBJECT: Questions and Answers, Solicitation 1282B123R0045 Cedar Creek Driveway Trail Bridge Replacement

Contractor Questions:

1. Quick notes on the Addendum info – the “clear width” definition is straightforward enough. My misunderstanding was simply due to the nomenclature being used, as industry standard practice would use “clear width” to define the inside dimension of the bridge from rail-to-rail. The “clear span” is what we would typically use to describe what you folks are calling out as the “clear width”.

Forest Service Answer: Clear Span is more appropriate. It was likely miss-labeled on the plans.

2. For the treatment specs, I would urge reconsideration. The Copper Naphthenate in Light Oil (Type C Solvent) is not commercially available anymore. Copper Naphthenate in Heavy Oil (Type A Solvent) is the only commercially available Copper Naphthenate treatment. We’d like for this project to allow the use Copper Naphthenate in Heavy Oil (Type A Solvent) along with the treatments that were included with the original specifications.

Forest Service Answer: Copper Naphthenate in Heavy Oil (Type A Solvent) is ok to use on for all treatments in this project per the USDA Guidance.
