Proposed Services General Service Delivery We will deliver an interactive Leadership and Management training for aspiring leaders or individuals who may just want to enhance some of their skills to become a better person as a whole or for the organization. Most of our self-development courses are 6 to 8 hours in length.

These can be broken into short sessions of 1 to 4 hours. The amount of audience participation will depend on the subject-matter and time allotted. We can also group courses or topics together to create a training program for a specific outcome such as we did for the Masters in Project Management program for the Department of Navy.

The Computer Workshop is known for our ability to customize a training program to fit the various needs of a client. One size does not fit all when it comes to training. Whether it is individual consulting or a webinar with 100 participants, we can deliver what is best for the audience. An ideal class size is between 15 to 20 participants; and our qualified instructors have experience training individuals, small classes, and lecture-hall sized classes of over 100 students..

Note: Class hours are flexible. Considerations would be given to ODOT’s overall goals for employees, topics being taught and work requirements. Most of our one (1) day classes can be structured to present several topics to different groups in the same day.

Submitted by The Computer Workshop Page 10

Course Instruction and Course Materials:

Each student will receive reference materials to use in class or after-class for the sessions they take. Lunch and Learns will be a hand-out or PowerPoint slide deck. We will work with ODOT to determine final Course Content for each session.

Credentials The Computer Workshop will provide Course Certificate with CEUs for all courses completed.

Some programs do have badges or certifications available.

Course Attendance Rosters Students will sign in via an electronic attendance roster and The Computer Workshop will provide those to the Program Manager after each training session. These can be used for both on-site and virtual classes. For virtual classes, we can also track when students arrive and leave classes – we used this feature in Teams when training NASA employees to verify they stayed for a designated percentage of the class, a requirement to receive certificates.

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy In the event of potential class cancellation due to instructor's inability to teach, we shall contact the ODOT coordinator immediately and provide a qualified substitute to instruct subject course as originally scheduled. If a suitable substitute is unavailable, we will reschedule the class on a date approved by ODOT.

The Government may cancel/reschedule the class 10 business days before class start date. The only charge would be for expenses already incurred at that point which could include curriculum development, travel, and administration costs. If less than 10 business days, the full amount of the class will be charged, but you can reschedule at no additional costs except for expenses already incurred.

Registration and Post Training Surveys TCW will provide all professional services, labor, materials, and administration necessary to provide training to include but not limited to:

• Course registration for each student: We prefer having the final list of attendees at least a week prior to class.

• Sign-in sheets: these are also done on-line at the beginning of the training session. We do ask that students arrive to their training session at least 15 minutes prior to the start time.

• Evaluation surveys: We will provide these at the end of the training session, but if for some reason this is not possible, we will have them to the coordinator within 24 hours of the conclusion of the training.

Of course, we will notify you immediately if we find any issues with the timely delivery of any of the above-mentioned items. Judy, the Administrative Assistant in charge of ordering class materials, is very organized and detailed. There are very few times that she misses deadlines.

Submitted by The Computer Workshop Page 11

Pricing Structure See the Excel pricing page for a fixed, per course cost proposal for each training course or program. Other courses are available for the same price if similar to those quoted.

Since the price is a daily rate, the minimum number of attendees can be as few as 5 students and maximum number of attendees is 30 for the pricing provided. We can handle more than 30 in a class, but there would be an additional charge for each student over 30. It would not be reasonable to do less than 10 for the price charged. We can provide pricing for 10 to 15 students if the need arises.

After Class (Reach Back) Support:

Unlimited Phone and Email support Instead of 6 months of reach-back support, we provide unlimited phone, email and Teams (or Skype) support. Normal turn-around time is less than 24 hours. If the trainer isn’t available at the time of the inquiry, we have a support team who will be able to answer the questions.

Free retakes Students have up to a year from the date of their class to retake the class if it is being offered by ODOT or in a public class as long as the course content is the same.

Descriptive Course Literature We have course content for each course we provide. See the Appendix for individual course content sheets for the courses listed in this response. You also can go to www.tcworkshop.com for additional course listings.

For our soft skill courses the instructor will incorporate interactive activities and audience participation.

• Interactive Actions and Transfer of Information (Lecture) – This is about 40% of the class time. The instructor will be using the overhead projector along with their lecture, This is then reinforced with the Practice Labs and Case Studies.

• Practice Labs, Action Plan and Case Studies – This is about 30% of the class time.

Throughout the course there are practice labs, case studies and group exercises to emphasize the principles being taught.

• Film and/or Video Clips – Used sparingly where needed to drive a point home.

• PowerPoint Slides –PowerPoint slides are used as a guide for the instructor’s presentation.

• Learning Games –approximately 20% of the time.

• Q & A Sessions – Held after each chapter and as a wrap-up. Students can also email or call the instructor after class is over with additional questions.

• Personal Evaluation and Assessments – can be done through practice exams.

Client Comments:

The following was in an email to the Administrative Coordinator of a 7-month training that started in the Fall of 2019 as on-site training. Then COVID hit and everything had to be changed to virtual training. Jeffrey was the instructor for this series of classes.

“… I’m the TA for a contract with The Computer Workshop at the NAVSUP Business Systems Center (BSC) located in Mechanicsburg, PA. Ms. Tippie asked me to complete a performance review form on their behalf. I was more than happy to complete this request as The Computer Workshop has been a breath of fresh air in a challenging contracting arena. This is the type of company the federal government should be excited to partner with to accomplish our mission. They have been exceedingly accommodating and have been acting as a valued team member on our mission since the inception of our contract.

I would encourage you to take a good, long look at this company when evaluating your professional training needs.”

The following came from an email received by our training consultant following one of our recent trainings with the U.S. General Services Administration. This was also Jeffrey.

“Just wanted to provide feedback: That was the best class I've ever attended during my bleak mid-career era. I was able to keep up with Part 2 without having taken the prerequisite with intermediate Excel skills (which others would need); and the class was perfectly designed to allow practice while keeping everyone together. I learned a TON of new little tricks that I was able to use right away.

I intend to steal many of the delivery techniques for my online sessions in the future. I probably don't need to tell you, but the instructor was AMAZING and made the class so fun and engaging even without two-way audio communication! (I don't remember his name because he didn't talk about himself--which most of the contract instructors we meet do... [constantly]. It was refreshing to have an instructor who cared more about our ability to learn than his evals--which I'm sure were 5s across the board.) Thank you so much for being bold and showing the rest of us how to do online training.”

Alternate Instructor:

John, Teacher, Trainer, Writer and Professional Speaker In John’s 20 years as a teacher, trainer, and professional speaker, he taught seminars on leadership, creativity, customer communication, writing, technical support, computer troubleshooting, and impostor syndrome in over 300 classroom-style sessions for more than 3,800 professionals and college students. As a contractor for The Computer Workshop, he recently met with Department of Navy to customize a writing course for individuals writing highly confidential reports.

Teaching Topics

• Leadership

• Communication

• Technical writing

• Critical and creative thinking

• Creativity skills

• Public speaking

• Customer support

• Business computer applications

John’s education reflects his endless curiosity. He holds master’s degrees in communication and computer science. He’s currently a visiting instructor in the Department of Organizational Leadership at Purdue University Fort Wayne. His research interests include leadership, creativity, brainstorming, problem solving, game-based education, and the application of modern tabletop board games as tools to improve family communication.

People often describe John as a bridge – someone who uses metaphors and surprising explanations to make complex concepts crystal clear. It’s a skill he learned during years as a computer support tech and then honed to perfection as a traveling corporate trainer. He’s also a best-selling author of 25 titles in the popular “For Dummies…” line of computer books, plus another 11 books for other publishers. His books sold over 3 million copies and appeared in 16 languages around the world. His freelance writing work includes more than 360 published columns, articles, and reviews for newspapers and national magazines.

While working for the City of Fort Wayne, he designed “Cloudburst,” a tabletop game that teaches players about the impact of stormwater runoff pollution. Cloudburst won a silver medal in the 2022 International Serious Play Competition and the Excellence in Low-Tech/No- Tech Gamification award at Camp Gamicon during Training Magazine’s 2022 TechLearn Conference.

John defies rational explanation, but in a good way. He’s a unique combination of writer, speaker, trainer, communicator, and tech geek. He knows his stuff, and he knows how to make

Risk 2: Curriculum / Handouts are not easy to follow.

Solution: We purchase courseware from proven curriculum vendors that has been reviewed by our expert instructors. We also have over 30 years’ experience writing curriculum for Soft-skill Courses, Microsoft Office and Adobe.

Risk 3: With a lot of material taught in a short amount of time, the student may not remember all the concepts.

Solution: We have unlimited phone and email support with a 24 to 48-hour response time. For most IT classes, students will have 3 to 6 months use of the practice labs after class to review the concepts taught. They can also send their problem to one of our instructors for additional help.

Risk 4: The student may not have opportunity to use the learned concepts right away and therefore have forgotten what they learned.

Solution: We have free retakes for our classes. You can attend another session taught at your location or you can join one of our public classes either in person or virtually (remote student).

Risk 5: Can the instructor teach? Just having knowledge doesn’t make you a good instructor.

Solution: We would reschedule the day. We would not charge for the rescheduled date except for any additional travel costs or other unforeseen expenses.

Risk 7: What if there are varying levels of knowledge in the classroom – would the instructor be able to handle a diverse class?

Solution: Our instructors have taught over 6,000 students per year and groups up to 30 students for computer classes and up to 100 students for soft-skill classes. They are trained to teach to the least experienced while adding enough ‘meat’ to the session to keep the experienced student from getting bored. If needed, we can add a second instructor to assist with the class – this could be at an additional cost depending on the type of class.

Risk 8: How do I know if you are reputable?

Solution: We are a Microsoft Education Partner with over 35 years’ experience teaching a wide variety of courses (over 1,000 to choose from). We were named CEO Magazine’s ‘Best in Business’ as the Top Training Center for our area 7 times by Business First Magazine. We can provide a long list of references.
