Description

Regenerating the (para)foveal macula: development of a candidate combination RPE-cone cell therapy for treating geographic atrophy - okulovision is developing a cone progenitor cell (CPC) therapy for treating loss of central vision, particularly in patients with age-related macular degeneration. Cones are essential for central, daytime, high acuity, and color vision, and are concentrated in the very center of the macula in a region called the fovea. This project focuses on building a combination cell graft that can be used to regenerate the parafoveal macula, combining CPC with retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells that support cones, on a membrane support that orients RPE properly and facilitates surgical handling.
