Abstract
Project title: bmes 2026-2028 annual meetings bmes 2026 theme: engineers empower human health the 2026 annual meeting of the biomedical engineering society (bmes) will convene ~5,000 scientists, engineers, trainees, clinical practitioners, industry professionals, and government scientists for four days of multidisciplinary scientific exchange in orlando, FL (october 21-24, 2026). This large, multi-track conference will disseminate cutting-edge biomedical engineering research across 20 core and emerging program tracks, including imaging, biomaterials, computational biology, devices, global health technologies, and AI-driven diagnostics. The meeting theme is "engineers empower human health" and the format includes plenary keynote sessions, concurrent technical and special sessions, poster sessions, structured workshops, career development events, and mentoring forums. The program is designed to strengthen professional pathways for students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career investigators through enhanced networking and mentorship activities, including a career fair, graduate and industry engagement events, and dedicated professional development workshops. The meeting's focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation will accelerate translation of health-impacting technologies. Bmes will offer travel awards and session support for participants from smaller, under-resourced institutions to increase broad participation and workforce representation across a wide range of perspectives and career stages. NIH support will enhance career-focused programming and expand access for trainees and early career professionals, directly aligning with nibib's mission to foster biomedical innovation and train future leaders in engineering solutions that improve health outcomes.
