Description

This project will support key activities of two sport harvest monitoring programs that strategically focus on chinook salmon in seak, including: the seak marine harvest studies (MHS) program, and the statewide saltwater guided sport fishing logbook reporting (guided logbook) program. Key activities of the seak MHS program which support this project includes necessary coordination to estimate harvest of chinook salmon by port in seak and to increase sampling rates for cwts in marine sport fisheries in seak to maintain or surpass an inspection rate of 20% of all chinook salmon retained for harvest. These seak MHS activities are further expanded and integrated with the guided logbook program, which provides an independent complete accounting (census) of guided (charter) saltwater sport harvest of chinook salmon at the angler level, which makes possible bag and annual limit analyses.
