About this award
This federal Project Grant award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Pacific Coast Salmon Recovery Pacific Salmon Treaty Program (CFDA 11.438) will provide $747,166 to the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (CTCR) to execute two key projects.
Project 1 will continue the trapping and hauling of summer/fall Chinook and sockeye salmon from below Chief Joseph Dam and releasing them upstream of Chief Joseph and Grand Coulee Dams. Project 2 will focus on the release of PIT-tagged juvenile salmon into the blocked area upstream of the dams, with monitoring to track outmigration and future adult salmon returns. These efforts are necessary steps in assessing the feasibility of fish passage at the federal dams. The award period runs from Nov 1, 2024 to Jun 30, 2027.
Description
Project 1) ctcr is working with ucut, fwdf and other partners to implement a phased approach to salmon restoration in the blocked area upstream of chief joseph and grand coulee dams.
