Description
An interdisciplinary group of scientists at the university of rhode island will work with the industry and scientists from other institutions to accelerate selective breeding efforts of agriculturally important seafood species (e.g. oysters, clams) through the application of advanced technologies such as (EPI)genomic design, sensor development, and smart environmental monitoring. The specific objective is to develop the resources necessary for the implementation of these approaches to aquaculture resilience. Impacts include a better understanding of the effect of environment on performance, and rapid response to environmental change and the presence of stressors and environmental conditions that may lead to decreases in production.
