About this award

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration awarded a $1.19 million project grant to the Alaska Department of Fish & Game through the Pacific Salmon Treaty Program (CFDA #11.438) to support assessment and data collection activities for Chinook salmon stocks in Alaska from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Specifically, the grant will fund projects to estimate abundance, age/sex composition, outmigration numbers of smolt, and future marine harvest of Chinook salmon in the Chilkat River drainage. It will also support the purchase of ruggedized tablet computers for commercial and field data collection on Chinook salmon harvests. As the sub-awardee, the State of Alaska will assist in fulfilling responsibilities under the Pacific Salmon Treaty to support salmon restoration efforts.
