The Department of Defense's Military Medical Research and Development program (CFDA 12.420) awarded a $4,182,053 Project Grant to The Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Corporation in Boston, MA to conduct the "BREATHING LOW OXYGEN TO ENHANCE SPINAL STIMULATION TRAINING AND FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY FOR AGING ADULTS WITH CHRONIC SCI: THE BO2ST-II TRIAL". This 4-year grant, awarded on Sep 30, 2024, will support research to investigate the potential of combining acute intermittent hypoxia pretreatment with spinal stimulation and walking practice to enhance functional recovery in individuals with chronic spinal cord injuries.
