Fiscal year 2025 department of defense chief information officer cyber service academy scholarships: old dominion university

Old Dominion University received a $465,027 Project Grant award dated August 14, 2025, from the Office of the Secretary of Defense under the Information Security Grants program (CFDA 12.902) to fund the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Service Academy Scholarships. This modification (MOD P00001) provides additional merit-based scholarships for the academic year 2025-2026 to support exceptional undergraduate and graduate students pursuing cybersecurity-related degrees at the institution. The scholarships cover tuition, fees, and living stipends for selected scholars who commit to subsequent civilian service with the DoD following graduation.

The award supports Old Dominion University's role as a designated partner institution in the DoD Cyber Service Academy scholarship-for-service initiative, with a performance period extending through August 13, 2030. As the initial recipient, the university is responsible for distributing scholarship funds to selected scholars and administering program requirements aligned with the Defense Cyber Workforce Framework. The program also enables institutional capacity-building activities, such as faculty development, laboratory improvements, and curriculum enhancements, to strengthen the university's overall cybersecurity education capabilities and infrastructure.
