ANCHOR pairs Johns Hopkins' Comprehensive Addiction and Pregnancy perinatal substance use disorder treatment expertise with Helping Up Mission's residential recovery infrastructure to provide family-centered residential treatment, recovery support, and care coordination for pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorders and their minor children in urban and rural Baltimore, Maryland. The project will engage women during pregnancy and the first postpartum year, serving 40 women and 32 children in year one, and 60 women and 40 children in each of years two through five, for a total of 472 unduplicated individuals over the performance period. ANCHOR pursues three goals: engaging and retaining women in integrated treatment through delivery and the fourth trimester; delivering coordinated medical, behavioral, and developmental care to mothers and children without fragmenting services; and identifying early markers of treatment success that strengthen recovery, family stability, and self-sufficiency to interrupt intergenerational transmission of addiction. The project period runs through September 29, 2031, with place of performance in Baltimore, Maryland.
