Description

Indianas funding needs and goals under this grant focuses strictly on coordination of aquatic invasive species (AIS) activities by the indiana AIS coordinator as well as providing additional funds supporting the aquatic invasive species program and our additional work focusing on aquatic invasive plant and invasive mussel awareness actions.first goal is to implement the AIS management plan by developing the necessary management tools and capabilities to address all types of AIS issues. Through the funding of staff specifically focusing on aquatic invasive species awareness, control, prevention and regional coordination. The secondary goal of this funding is to focus time and activities on a couple of AIS pathways including an emphasis on organisms in trade and recreational boating. Funding the implementation of early detection efforts and to develop response strategies is important when working on focusing outreach and education. In regard to all aquatic invasive species including high priority aquatic invasive plants and zebra mussels (ZM) through the AIS management plan we are going to target better communication strategies and coordination among partners and the agency.
