Description

The proposal focuses on three main objectives: 1) legal protection of 1,637 HA 4,419 AC of key wetlands of importance for large populations of 10 focal migratory bird species, under either a state, federal, or private legal mechanism. 2) restore a total of 3,532 HA 8,724 AC of key wetlands of importance for migratory birds, of which 1,895 HA 4,681 AC plus (1,637 HA) (4,043 AC) will be using machinery for hydrological restoration and (336) HA (829 BC) using nucleation techniques. 3) develop a practice course to train 30 technicians (15 per year) and generate a community network of training in use of machines for wetlands restoration. The use of state-of-the-art technology for the restoration of wetlands on a large scale for the recovery of habitats for birds and other fauna is one of the central points of the proposal. An amphibious excavator is going to be acquired to carry out hydrological restoration on land already legally protected and on new spaces to be legally protected. 30 local and national restoration technicians will be trained in the use of machinery for the restoration of wetlands.
