Financial assistance for countering violent extremism

The Regents of the University of Colorado, through its Office of Contracts and Grants Division, was awarded a $868,875 Federal Project Grant by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Financial Assistance for Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) Grant Program (CFDA 97.132). The grant, awarded on September 19, 2023, will support initiatives focused on preventing targeted violence and terrorism in local communities across the United States. Funded activities are expected to include educational programs, community outreach, training, research studies, and technical assistance targeting risk factor recognition, intervention approaches, threat assessments, and countering extremist ideologies that can lead to violence. The University of Colorado, as a public research institution, will leverage its expertise in areas such as physics, material science, and data analytics to contribute to the program's objectives of increasing community awareness, understanding threats, and enhancing local prevention capabilities.
